The aim of this research is to grasp the motive of the participants who participate in leisure sports through which to inquire into the influence of their participating motive on the commitment to leisure and leisure advantage. To inquire into this, this research conducted a questionnaire survey targeting 550 participants partaking in leisure sports activities in 2010.
For data processing, this research conducted frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis an multi-regression analysis using SPSS ver 18.0 program. The analysis results are as follows:
First, it was found that participating motive had a statistically significant influence on the commitment to leisure. In addition, it was found that educational motive, external showing-off motive and society-friendly motive as the sub-factors in participating motive influencing the challenge and technical balance-sub-factors in commitment to leisure while there appeared educational motive, physical motive and psychology-change-based motive as sub-factors in participating motive having an effect on one's own purposive experience.
There appeared external showing-off motive and society-friendly motive as sub-factors in participating motive having effect on ecstasy. In addition, it was found that there appeared educational and physical factors as sub-factors in participating motive influencing the ability to control.
Secondly, the participating motive in leisure sports was found to have a statistically significant effect on leisure advantage. In addition, there appeared physical motive and psychology-change-based motive as sub-factors in participating motive influencing the psychological advantage-sub-factor in leisure advantage; there appeared educational, external showing-off, physical, society friendly motives and psychological motive as sub-factors in participating motive having an effect on self-development advantage; there also appeared educational, physical, society-friendly and psychology-change-based motives as sub-factors in participating motive that had an influence on personal satisfaction advantage.
In addition, there appeared physical, external showing-off, society-friendly and psychology-change-based motives as sub-factors in participating motive that had an effect on physical advantage while there appeared physical, external showing-off, society-friendly and psychology-change-based factors as sub-factors in participating motive that had an effect on social advantage.
Third, commitment to leisure was found to have a statistically significant effect on leisure advantage. There appeared one's own purposive experience as a sub-factor in commitment to leisure that had an effect on psychological advantage-the subordinate factor in leisure advantage; there appeared challenge, technical balance, one's own purposive experience, and ecstasy as sub-factors in commitment to leisure that had an effect on self-development advantage, and there appeared challenge, technical balance, one's own purposive experience and ability to control as sub-factors in commitment to leisure that had an effect on personal satisfaction advantage. In addition, there appeared one's own purposive experience and ability to control as sub-factors in commitment to leisure that had an effect on physical advantage while there appeared challenge, technical balance, and one's own purposive experience as sub-factors in commitment to leisure having an effect on social advantage.
