The purpose of this study was to analyze job stress and job satisfaction of elementary school sports instructors. In this study, 120 sports instructors from Jeollanam-do and Jeollabuk-do were surveyed by questionnaires of previous research modified to be suitable to this study. The subjects were asked to answer the questionnaires by self-administered method.
Such statistical techniques as t-test, one way-ANOVA, Correlation Analysis and Regression Analysis were done by SPSSWIN(12.0).
Based on the above research method, the following conclusions are made.
First, no differences in job stress were shown between the genders according to the general characteristics of the subjects. In terms of age, those 30 and under had the highest stress, and there were significant differences in the job stress sub-factors of “role conflict” and “role ambiguity". Unmarried subjects showed higher stress than married ones, and significant difference was shown for the job stress subfactor of “role overload".
Second, no differences in job satisfaction were shown between the genders according to the general characteristics of the subjects, but there was significant differences in the job satisfaction sub-factors of “compensation" and “job changing". In terms of age, those between 40~49 had the highest satisfaction, and there were significant differences in job satisfaction subfactor of "autonomy". While no differences for marital status, but in the job satisfaction subfactor “job changing", unmarried subjects preferred their previous job to married subjects.
Third, in terms of job stress factors, role conflict, role ambiguity, and role overload were shown to have negative(-) correlation with job satisfaction.
Fourth, among job stress factors, role ambiguity was shown to have negative(-) impact on job satisfaction as well as on comradeship, future prospects, autonomy, and work overload. “Role conflict" had negative(-) impact on compensation and work overload. “Role overload" had a positive(+) influence on future prospects. But job stress did not impact on “job changing".
