성분분석을 통한 신조어 번역평가

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This dissertation purports to address the following research questions:
1. What is the concept and types of componential analysis?
2. How effectively evaluate the results of neologism translation with componential analysis?
In an effort to evaluate the results of neologism translation, this paper analyzes English/Korean translation of newspaper and magazine from 5 STs and TTs. This dissertation comprises five chapters: Introduction (Chapter 1), Research on Componential Analysis (Chapter 2), Research on Neologisms (Chapter 3), Case study of Translation Evaluation of Neologisms in the English/Korean Newspaper and Magazine (Chapter 4) and Conclusion(Chapter 5).
Chapter 1 clarifies the purpose and necessity of this paper and presents the review of previous studies, research questions and methodology, as well as the anticipated contribution of the study.
Chapter 2 explains the definition of componential analysis and introduces its model―Nida and Newmark's. Further, compares and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the two models.
Chapter 3 describes the definition of neologism and categorizes it in accordance with the topics.
Chapter 4 demonstrates the results of case studies of neologism translation in English newspapers and magazines translated into Korean. The topics of neologism are confined to well-used top 5 ―society, general topics, economy, communication, and politics.
Chapter 5 summarizes the results of the study and acknowledges the limitation of the study and shows potential future research topics.
The author hopes the thesis would trigger further discussions on the translation of neologism in English/Korean texts and contribute to understanding of componential analysis.
