The Effect of Internet game flow and addiction on Depression : Moderation effect of Self-Control
The purpose of the study is to search the relationship among motive, flow, ad야ction, and depression of internet games. Especially, in the relationship between flow and depression, the study is supposed to prove the moderation effect on self-control about addiction and depression and examine the mediation effect about internet game addiction.
464 university students, 22.30 years old in average, are participated in the study, and there are 218 male students and 246 female students of them. One notable thing is, using motive, flow, addiction, self-control, and depression scale as tools of the study, that motive has a positive effect on flow statistically, flow on addiction, and addiction on depression. Among the results, on the effect between flow and depression, there appears the mediation effect. Also, there is the moderation effect on self-control between flow to depression and flow to addiction.
In conclusion, how depressed and addicted you become depends on how much self-control you have. Based on the conclusion, the study continues to discuss points, limitations, and hereafter researches about the subject.
