모애착과 학교적응의 관계 : 낙관성을 매개변인으로 = Relationship of Maternal Attachment to School Adjustment : the impact of optimism as a mediator

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 아동의 주 양육자인 어머니와의 애착의 중요성을 인식하고 이러한 어머니와의 애착이 학교적응에 미치는 영향과 긍정심리학 가운데 낙관성이 모애착과 학교적응의 관계에 있어 매개역할을 하는지 알아보는 데 그 목적이 있다.
이를 위하여 초등학교 5-6학년 아동 300명을 대상으로 모애착 척도검사, 낙관성 척도검사, 학교적응 척도 검사를 사용하였으며, 수집된 자료는 연구문제에 따라 상관관계 분석, 위계적 회귀분석을 통한 매개효과 검증을 실시하여 분석하였다.
이 연구에서 밝혀진 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 모애착과 낙관성, 학교적응의 상관관계를 알아본 결과, 모애착과 낙관성은 유의한 정적 상관을 보여 모애착이 높을수록 낙관성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 모애착과 학교적응의 상관분석 결과 모와 애착관계가 잘 형성된 아동이 학교적응 정도가 높은 것을 볼 수 있었다. 이는 가정에서 모와의 신뢰감, 의사사통 면에서 애착이 잘 형성될수록 학교적응을 잘 하는 것을 의미한다. 낙관성과 학교적응의 관계도 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다.
둘째, 모애착과 학교적응의 관계에서 낙관성의 매개효과를 알아보기 위해 위계적 회귀분석을 한 결과, 낙관성은 모애착과 학교적응간의 관계에서 부분 매개 효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다.
이 연구를 통해 모애착이 학교적응에 영향을 미치는데 있어 직접적인 영향도 있지만, 낙관성을 매개로 하는 간적접인 영향도 간과할 수 없음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 아동의 학교적응을 다루는 데 있어 아동의 모애착의 중요성을 이해하고 모애착을 높이는 방향으로 상담적 개입을 할 것을 시사하며, 나아가 낙관성을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법을 염두에 두고 접근하는 것이 효과적임을 의미한다.
또한 학교 현장에서 아동을 이해하는 데 크게 도움이 될 것이며 이를 바탕으로 상담 장면에서 보다 효율적인 개입을 하는데 도움이 될 것이다. 또한 이를 바탕으로 낙관성 향상에 필요한 기초 자료 제공 및 학교 현장에서 적용 가능한 상담프로그램 개발에도 유용한 자료가 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of children's maternal attachment to their school adjustment and the possible mediating effect of optimism, one of positive psychology, on the relationship between maternal attachment and school adjustment, as the importance of children's attachment to their mothers who are their major rearers shouldn't be underestimated.
The subjects in this study were 300 children who were in their fifth and sixth grade in elementary school. The instruments used in this study were a maternal attachment scale, an optimism inventory and a school adjustment inventory. The collected data were analyzed to address the research questions of the study, and correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were made to verify the mediating effect of optimism.
The findings of the study were as follows:
First, as for the correlation of maternal attachment, optimism and school adjustment, there was a significant positive correlation between maternal attachment and optimism, which showed that stronger maternal attachment led to better optimism. As a result of analyzing the correlation between maternal attachment and school adjustment, the children who were better attached to their mothers fitted better into school. It denoted that better maternal attachment in terms of trust and communication was followed by better school adjustment. A significant positive correlation was found between optimism and school adjustment as well.
Second, when the hierarchical regression analysis was carried out to check the mediating effect of optimism on the relationship between maternal attachment and school adjustment, optimism had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between maternal attachment and school adjustment.
The findings of the study illustrated that maternal attachment exerted a firsthand influence on school adjustment, and that it had an unnegligible secondhand impact on school adjustment through optimism as well. The findings suggest that the importance of children's maternal attachment should be taken into account in association with their school adjustment, and that counseling and intervention should be provided in a manner to boost their maternal attachment. At the same time, the findings imply that in order to step up their school adjustment, it's effective to improve children's optimism.
This study is expected to be of great use for understanding of children and the improvement of the efficiency of counseling and intervention, to provide information on ways of boosting optimism and finally to pave the way for the development of workable counseling programs.
