영어 읽기 주제 선정이 전문계 고등학생 의 독해 능력과 흥미도에 미치는 영향

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 전문계 고등학교에서 학생들의 흥미에 따른 읽기 자료 선정이 학생들의 흥미도와 학생들의 독해력에 영향을 줄 수 있는지를 알아보는데 목적을 두고 있다. 즉, 이 연구를 통해 전문계 고등학생들의 영어에 대한 흥미와 독해력을 향상 시킬 수 있는지를 알아볼 것이다.
전문계 고등학교 학생들은 학습 실태로는 영어에 대한 자신감이 결여 되어져 있고, 그로 인해 흥미와 동기가 부족으로 인하여 학습 의욕이 현저히 낮은 상황이다. 따라서 학생들에게 자신감과 공부에 대한 흥미를 끌어올려 학습을 계속적으로 할 수 있도록 해야한다.
이 실험들을 하기전 학생들의 흥미에 따른 주제선정의 효과에 관련되어진 다른 읽기 관련 선행 연구들과 이론들을 연구하고 나서 다음과 같은 연구 문제들을 설정하였다. 첫째, 흥미에 따른 영어 읽기 주제 선정이 학생들의 영어에 대한 흥미도를 향상 시킬 수 있을 것이다. 둘째, 흥미에 따른 영어 읽기 주제 선정이 학생들의 영어 독해력을 향상 시킬 수 있을 것이다.
연구대상은 전문계 고등학생들을 실험반25명과 비교반25명으로 나누었다. 기초조사에서 학생들의 흥미도가 가장 높은 영어주제들을 선정하였고, 흥미도가 가장 낮은 영어주제들도 선정하였다. 실험반은 가장 흥미로운 주제를 가지고 읽기수업활동을 실시하였고, 비교반은 가장 흥미없는 주제를 가지고 읽기수업 활동을 실시하였다. 그리고 사전 사후 읽기능력 평가를 실시하여 독해력에 끼치는 영향을 파악하였고 사전 사후 흥미도 검사지를 통해 흥미도에 끼치는 영향을 파악하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 학생들의 흥미에 따른 주제선정이 학생의 흥미를 향상시키는데 매우 효과적이었다. 결과적으로 흥미있는 것을 가지고 수업을 한 실험집단의 흥미도가 흥미없는 것을 가지고 한 비교집단보다 흥미도가 높았고 실험집단이 향상이 비교집단보다 많이 향상되어서 흥미에 따른 읽기 자료 선정이 학생들의 흥미에 영향을 끼칠 수 있다고 해석되어졌다.
둘째, 흥미있는 영어 읽기 주제 선정이 학생들의 독해력에 영향을 끼칠 수 있다. 이 실험에서 가장 흥미있는 자료를 가지고 읽기 수업을 한 실험반이 가장 흥미없는 자료를 가지고 읽기 수업을 한 비교반보다 독해력이 많이 향상되었다. 또한 실험반은 전보다 더 독해력이 유의미한 향상을 보인 반면에 비교반은 유의미한 결과가 나오질 않았다.
결론적으로 영어 흥미에 따른 읽기 주제 선정이 매우 효과적이고 긍정적인 영향으로 학생들의 흥미와 독해력을 향상 시킬 수 있다. 따라서 전문계 고등학생들에게 그들의 흥미에 따른 읽기 주제선정이 영어 읽기에 대한 흥미를 끌어올릴 수 있고 영어 독해력을 향상시킬 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the study is to suggest how to increase a commercial high school students’ interest in English and how to improve their Reading ability through this study.
This study is concerned with reading through topics which were chosen by students and its effect on commercial high school students’ interest and reading skills.
And it is true that commercial high school students are not confident in studying English, lack interest and motivation in learning , and are not effective in English learning. so, it is necessary to have commercial high school students to have a raised confidence in English learning and is motivated to study it continuously, helping them study actively.
To examine how positive these effects are, this work first discussed some current theories of reading English through selecting topics were chosen by students’ interests and then conduct an experiment with the following procedures:
First, 50 students of the commercial high school participated in this study, and we divided them into two groups. one was a experiment group and the other was a control group. The experiment group, which had Read Activities with interesting topics, was composed of 25 students. and the control group, which had Reading activities with boring topics, was also composed of 25 students. The experiment group has been taught by the Reading lessons using the best interesting topics, while the control group has been taught by the Reading lessons using the boring topics
The evaluation instruments are as follows:
Interest in English studies was evaluated and measured by questionnaires before and after the experiment. The English reading abilities were evaluated through the English reading ability evaluation test.
The result of this experiment are as follows:
First, The selecting topics which were chosen by students were very effective to increase their concerns and they effected the interests of students. so the experiment group with interesting topics in reading class were better than the control group with boring topics in reading class. Because, Interests were important to develop and influence students’s Reading concerns.
Second, Giving best interesting topics were better than giving best boring topics in reading class. Before choosing the topics, I asked the students about topics what they like the most or they don’t like the most. And then the best thing which was interesting gave to the experiment group and the best thing which was boring gave to the control group. After that, In their tests, they were different each other in reading ability. and The experiment's average was much higher than the control group. so the best interesting topics and the best boring topics influenced to students’ reading abilities.
In conclusion, selecting English topics which were chosen by students's Interests in Reading Activity was very effective way to achieve higher Reading Ability and to increase the student’s interests of English Reading. They gave students fun, and helped them enjoy learning even those who had anxiety and fear for Reading. They also stimulated their motivation and curiosity and improved their Reading Ability by encouraging the class to participate enthusiastically.
Therefore, Usinginteresting topics are concerned about students’interestsareveryeffectiveandhelpfultothecommercialhigh schoolstudents' ReadingAbility.andTheyalsoinfluence students'
Interests about English. therefore considering their Interests are the best way to improve their concerns in learning English
