The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of hardiness and emotional intelligence on posttraumatic growth, and active coping mediated the effect. This study included 310 college students. Data were analyzed by correlational analyses and structural equation modeling. The results of this study were as follows. First, hardiness and emotional intelligence was positively correlated with active coping and posttraumatic growth. Second, the relationship analysis by structural equation modeling demonstrated that active coping partially mediated the relation between hardiness and posttraumatic growth. Also, active coping partially mediated the relation between emotional intelligence and posttraumatic growth. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
