Objective : This study is to investigate the effect of integrative art therapy program, which is expected to change the negative mind into the positive, on the resilience, employment stress and satisfaction with life in college students.
Method : This study was conducted on 354 college students of 0 University located in 00 city, GyeongGi-Do. The students were divided into 3 groups : 102 students in integrative art therapy, 108 students in art appreciation, and 144 students who didn't participate in any program, which is called the control group. In the integrative art therapy group, integrative art therapy program was conducted twice a week, 15 times in total. In the art appreciation group, art appreciation program was presented twice a week, 15 times in all. On the contrary, no treatment was done for the member of the control group. To figure out the effect of these programs, the examination of homogeneity was made when the pre test was taken after setting up a hypothesis, and then statistic inspection on the hypothesis with ANCOVA and t-test was made according to the experiment plan.
To examine the effect of integrative art therapy, the results of rating scale for resilience, stress, employment stress and satisfaction with life between pre and post program were compared.
Result : the results of this study were as follows:
1. There was no significant statistic difference in demographic characteristics of the subjects among the groups of integrative art therapy, art appreciation and control in the pre inspection.
2. The resilience point of the participants in the integrative art therapy and art appreciation group didn't rise significantly in comparison with that of the control group.
3. The stress point of the participants in the integrative art therapy and art appreciation group was remarkably reduced in comparison with that of the control group and the integrative art therapy group was significantly reduced in comparison with the art appreciation group.
4. The employment stress point of the participants in the integrative art therapy and art appreciation group was remarkably reduced in comparison with that of the control group and the integrative art therapy group was significantly reduced in comparison with the art appreciation group.
5. The satisfaction with life of the participants in the integrative art therapy and art appreciation group was significantly increased in comparison with that of the control group and the integrative art therapy group was significantly increased in comparison with the
art appreciation group.
Conclusion : These results suggest that integrative art therapy program could reduce college student's employment stress and made an positive influence on their satisfaction with life, but had no noticeable effect in the resilience. According to this result, integrative art therapy program can be recommended as an effective way to reduce college student's stress and employment stress and to heighten the satisfaction with life.
