청소년 진로선택을 위한 성경적 부모역할 = A Biblical Basis for Parents' Role in Supporting Adolescent Career Choices

국문 초록 (Abstract)

청소년기는 진로를 탐색하면서 자신의 진로에 대하여 잠정적인 선택을 하는 중요한 시기이다. 이러한 중요한 선택의 시기에 있는 청소년 자녀에게는 부모의 도움이 절실하다. 많은 기독인 부모들이 세상적인 가치관에 근거하여 자녀를 키우는 요즘, 청소년의 진로선택에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 부모를 위해 본 논문에서는 청소년 자녀의 진로선택을 위한 성경적 부모역할을 제시하였다.
청소년은 하나님이 만드신 존재로 하나님의 형상의 소유자다. 그리고 선택권을 가진 인격체이며 과정적이고 방향성 있는 존재이다. 이러한 청소년의 진로선택에는 능력과 직업적인 흥미, 성격, 학업, 가치관, 신체적 조건과 진로 정보 등이 영향을 준다. 또한, 성경적인 진로선택 요인에는 소명과 달란트가 있으며 이와 같은 요소들을 고려하여 진로를 선택하는 것이 청소년에게는 필요하다.
청소년의 진로선택을 위해 부모는 무엇보다도 먼저 자녀에게 성경적인 가치관을 심어주어야 한다. 먼저, 자녀가 하나님의 부르심을 알고 그러한 소명에 합당한 진로선택을 하도록 도와야 한다. 그렇게 하기 위해 부모는 자녀에게 인생의 주인이 하나님이기에 하나님을 위해 살아야 함을 가르쳐줄 뿐만 아니라 소명에 관한 내용을 담아 기도해주며 축복해주어야 한다. 그리고 부모는 자녀가 다른 사람을 섬기기 위한 목적을 가지도록 도와주어야 한다. 예수님도 섬기려고 이 땅에 오셨으며 모든 그리스도인들은 하나님을 섬기는 자들이다. 그러므로 부모는 그리스도인이라면 자신의 달란트를 통하여 하나님과 이웃을 섬겨야 함을 자녀에게 가르쳐야 한다. 또한, 하나님의 사랑과 관심을 받고 있음을 알기에 자녀가 스스로를 가치 있게 바라보도록 도와야 한다. 자녀를 위해 기도로 후원하는 역할도 빠져선 안 될 것이다.
진로에 대하여 성경적인 가치관을 가진 자녀를 위해 부모는 진로선택에 필요한 직업 기초능력과 정보 탐색능력을 갖추도록 돕고, 의사결정 능력과 진로계획 능력도 키워주어 진로선택을 위한 능력을 개발시켜 주어야 한다. 자녀의 직업 기초능력을 키워주려면 폭넓은 독서와 체험, 충실한 학교생활, 부모와의 충분한 대화와 친구들과의 사귐이 잘 이루어지도록 도와야 한다. 나아가 자녀의 정보 탐색능력을 키우려면 자녀에게 양질의 정보를 제공해주면서 스스로 자신에게 필요한 정보를 탐색할 수 있도록 기회를 제공한다. 부모가 자녀로 하여금 진로에 대한 장단기적인 목표와 계획을 구체적이고 실제적으로 세우게 하여 자녀의 진로계획 능력도 길러주도록 한다.
이와 같이 청소년 자녀의 진로선택을 위해 성경적인 가치관을 가지며 필요한 능력도 개발하도록 부모가 돕는다면, 성경적 가치관과 실력을 겸비한 청소년이 되어 세상의 빚과 소금 역할을 감당하는 사람이 될 것이다. 앞으로 이러한 청소년 진로선택을 위한 성경적 부모역할의 실천적인 방안들이 더욱 연구되어 가정과 교회에서 실천 가능한 방안들이 요구된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Adolescence is a critical period during which one's tentative career choice is made. For adolescents who face a diverse array of career options in this day and age, parents' guidance can be critical. Nowadays, many Christian parents nurture their children based on secular values. This paper seeks to elucidate a parents' role in helping adolescents form sound career choices according to the Bible.
Adolescents are made in the image of God. They are developing entities who possess rights to decisions and are purpose driven. Adolescent career decisions are affected by their abilities, professional interests, character, studies, values, physical conditions, and availability of resources. Individual calling and talent are also biblical factors that play a big part in adolescent career decisions. It is important for parents to instill in their children biblical values in lieu of career decisions.
In order to do so, parents have to teach their children to know that God is the Lord of their lives and they have to live for Him. Parents also should pray and bless their children for their calling. In addition, parents ought to help their children have a purpose of serving others. Just as Jesus came into the world to serve, so we have to serve. Parents should help their children find their true vocation that is in accordance with their calling. They should also encourage their children to develop a sense of self while serving others.
That being said, parent assistance should not focus solely on a child's exploration of career options, but also on the development of planning and decision-making skills. To foster fundamental abilities for career, children need a diverse range of experiences through reading, school life, communication with their parents, and good relations with friends. Moreover, to strengthen children's career planning abilities, parents have to provide them with high quality of information and opportunities to explore the choices by themselves. Parents have to help their children establish specific and practical long-term and short-term goals so that their children can motivate themselves in the career preparation process.
Once parents support their children develop biblical values and the necessary skills for their career choices, children will ultimately play a vital role in the world as people of light and salt. There still remains a big need for practical study in families and churches on the biblical basis of a parent's role in assisting adolescent career decisions.
