This study tries to review the relationships between perceived crowding and emotion, hedonic value and customer loyalty in the theme parks(Lotte World, Everland) and analyze the relationships among t on the purpose of study in detail are as follow.
First, we review the factors that consist of emotion and crowding perceived within the theme park.
Second, we practically analyze the relationships between crowding and emotion reviewed through pre-study and the relationships among emotion, hedonic value by the visitors and customer loyalty.
Third, we are to establish efficient customer relationship marketing strategy and strategic suggestions that the theme parks can command for the customers.
The period of this study is from August 1, 2010 to August 30, 2010. The extraction was performed by biased sample extraction due to the limit of cost and time. We distributed 300 copies of samples at Lotte World and Everland and used 430 copies(Lotte World 226 people, and Everland 204 people) in total except the survey sheets that were unsuitable for the purpose of the study due to in sincere answers and omissions.
We analyzed the collected data using SPSS/WIN 12.0 manual statistics program and AMOS 6.0, We analyzed through frequency analysis to grasp demographic features of sample and general descriptive statistics. To verify the reliability of the survey sheet, we analyzed Cronbach's alpha value and practiced confirmative factor analysis to verify the reliability and validity of the searching factor analysis and composition concept to grasp validity. We practiced the correlation analysis to verify the basis validity of each study unit and practiced co-variance analysis to verify cause and effect.
The results of this study were dimensioned by the personal crowding and spatial crowding as we practiced factor analysis of crowding. This conform with the study by Erogulu et al.(2005) and Hui & Bateson(1991). That is, the visitors using the theme park seem to perceive the crowding within the theme park while dividing personal crowding and spatial crowding As we verified the hypothesis that there might be significant correlations between crowding (population, space) and emotion, the personal crowding and spatial crowding being high, positive emotion rises up.
As the personal crowding rises, positive emotion follows, and the higher spatial crowding is, the higher positive emotion becomes.
As we verified the relationships between positive emotion and hedonic value, the higher the positive emotion is, the higher the hedonic value becomes. This conforms with the study results of Hui & Bateson in the past. The positive emotion of the visitors in using theme park raised the hedonic value that feels pleasure, fun and satisfaction for the usage itself.
The higher positive emotion is, the higher the hedonic value becomes. As we verified positive emotion with the customer loyalty, there is no significant relationships between positive emotion and customer loyalty.
This conforms with the results of Donovan & Rossiter(1982), Dawson et al.(1990), Swinyard(1993). The emotion formed through personal crowding increased its hedonic value, that is the customer satisfaction, while at the emotion formed through spatial crowding, it didn't affect that much to the hedonic value. As a result of the verification of the relationships between crowding and customer loyalty, personal crowding at the spatial crowding and personal crowding seemed to raise customer loyalty. The higher the personal crowding becomes, the higher customer loyalty is. Whereas, spatial crowding and customer loyalty had no significant relationships. We regard this as the visitors who have high positive emotion through personal crowding improved their repurchase intention. However, about the spatial crowding , dissatisfaction occurred, so it affected negatively to the repurchase intention afterwards.
So the crowding is the important variable in repurchase in the psychological emotion of the visitors who use theme park. As we verified the relationships between the hedonic value and customer loyalty, we could know that the higher the hedonic value became, the higher customer loyalty. The higher the hedonic value is, the higher customer loyalty becomes. As we suggest scholastic suggestion of this study based on the study results as follow, we could know that the crowding e visitors perceived who use theme park seemed to perceive personal crowding and spatial crowding largely. The emotion of the crowding seemed to be perceived as (positive, negative) emotions. We used only positive emotion as one dimension in this study because we couldn't feel the necessity of study as the negative emotion showed (-) relationships with all the other factors. The visitors using theme park perceived the usage value largely as (pleasant, practical). As the result that there are no customers who feel the value using it practically in purchasing and using the commodity within the theme park for the visitors to use the theme park, we used hedonic value of the scale of the usage value as one dimension.
The visitors who use theme park seemed to be higher in their positive emotion as the personal crowding gets higher. In case a space is crowding , it seemed that the higher spatial crowding is, the higher positive emotion becomes, and the lower the negative emotion is. This showed different results from the study of Hui & Bateson(1991). That is, appropriate crowding in the personal aspect within the theme park gives good feelings to the visitors and is suggesting that it can give good image of the theme park. In case the spatial crowding is too dense, it doesn't cause negative feelings to the visitor, so it does not affect that much .within the theme park and the hedonic value through the emotion, the higher the personal crowding is, the higher the hedonic value becomes, and the higher the spatial Crowding becomes, it is not related to the hedonic value.
