그림책을 활용한 소집단 토의활동이 유아의 친사회적 행동과 조망수용능력에 미치는 영향 = (The) effects of small group discussion using picture books on prosocial behavior and perspective-taking ability in early childhood

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 그림책을 활용한 소집단 토의활동이 유아의 친사회적 행동 및 조망수용능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 사례연구이다.

이와 같은 목적에 따라 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다.

1. 그림책을 활용한 소집단 토의활동이 유아의 친사회적 행동(지도성, 도 움주기, 의사소통, 주도적 배려, 접근 시도하기, 나누기, 감정이입 및 조절)에 미치는 영향은 어떠한가?
2. 그림책을 활용한 소집단 토의활동이 유아의 조망수용능력( 타인의도조망수용능력, 타인사고조망수용능력, 타인감정조망수용능력) 에 미치는 영향은 어떠한가?

본 연구의 연구대상은 경기 지역에 위치한 사립 유치원 2개 학급 만4세 유아 58명을 대상으로 하여 2010년 4월 9일부터 7월 2일까지 12주 동안 연구가 실시되었으며, 12편의 그림책을 활용한 토의활동은 주 1회 소집단을 중심으로 활동을 전개하였다. 토의한 내용은 현장노트에 기록하고, 유아들의 토의내용을 녹음하고 사진촬영ㆍ비디오 촬영을 하였으며, 유아와 교사와의 비형식적인 면담도 실시하였다.

연구도구로는 유아의 친사회적 행동을 알아보기 위해서 김영옥(2003)의 친사회적 행동 평가 척도(PBSYC)를 사용하였으며, 유아의 조망수용능력을 검사하기 위한 도구로는 Hudson, Formam과 Brion(1982)의 연구를 기초로 신현옥(1996)이 수정ㆍ보완한 조망수용능력검사 도구를 사용하였다.

자료 분석은 SPSS Window 17.0 통계프로그램을 이용하였다. 사전 검사와 사후 검사를 실시한 결과를 평균과 표준편차를 산출하고, 점수 차이를 알아보기 위해 대응표본 t 검증(paired t-test)을 실시하였다.

본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.

첫째, 그림책을 활용한 소집단 토의활동이 유아의 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아본 결과, 지도성, 도움주기, 의사소통, 주도적 배려, 접근 시도하기, 나누기, 감정이입 및 조절 등의 친사회적 행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 그림책을 활용한 소집단 토의활동이 유아의 조망수용능력에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아본 결과, 인지조망수용인 타인의도조망수용능력과 타인사고조망수용능력, 감정조망수용인 타인감정조망수용능력에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

본 연구를 통해서 그림책을 활용한 토의활동은 유아의 친사회적 행동과 조망수용능력 증진에 매우 효과적임을 알 수 있으며, 앞으로도 유아교육현장에서 유용한 교수 - 학습방법으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of small group discussion applying picture books on prosocial behavior an perspective-taking ability in early childhood. The following research questions were set depending on objectives as below.

1. What is the impact of small group discussion activities using picture books on young children's prosocial behavior including leadership, offering help, communication and initiative consideration, attempting access, sharing, empathy, and emotional self-regulation?

2. What influence can be expected from children's small group discussion activities using picture books on the taking abilities of others' intention perspective, others' thought perspective, others' affective perspective?

Fifty-eight of under four-year-old young children were selected from private kindergarten classrooms over Kyeongki-do as subjects. The investigation was conducted once a week based on the small group discussion as to twelve different picture books over 12 weeks(April 9 - July 2, 2010). Details of the debate were taken immediately on the fieldnote and children's comments during not only the meeting but also informal conversations between teachers and experimental students were recorded as well as pictured. Data were collected via Prosocial Behavior Scale for young children (PBSYC) which is developed by Kim, Young-ok(2003) to analyze children's prosocial behavior and the instrument of Sin Hyeon-ok(1996) which is based on the perspective-taking ability inventory by Hudson, Forman & Brion (1982) was modified, supplemented, and applied in order to clarify the young children's perspective-taking ability. To examine research material, SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) Window 17.0 was used. Paired sample, T-test was another inspection tool for the purpose of calculating average and standard deviation for the pre-test the post-test as well as comparing test results between subjects.
Followings are the result of present study:
Our result indicated that firstly, small group discussion activities using picture books impacted on young children's prosocial behavior involving leadership, offering help, communication and initiative consideration, attempting access, sharing, empathy, and emotional self-control. Secondly, the research was demonstrated that young children's small group discussion activities using picture books effected on children's taking abilities' of other's intention perspective, other's thought perspective, and emotional perspective got effected. These results show that group discussion utilizing picture books in early childhood stimulates children's prosocial behavior and perspective-taking ability and they will be applied to childhood education in the forseeable future.
