The purpose of this study is to select grammar terminologies for foreign students majoring in Teaching Korean As a Foreign Language (TKFL) and discuss on the effective usage of the selected list.
This study was started from the perspective that the education of terminologies is necessary for the foreign students majoring in TKFL to successfully complete their major area of study. From this perspective, the grammar terminologies were selected to apply 'frequency' and 'context' as classification standards considering the educational utilization values. Through such process, a 'selected list of grammar terminologies for the foreign students majoring in TKFL' composed of a total of 1759 terminologies has been presented.
For the presented list, a detailed analysis was performed by setting up the units and standards of the appropriate analysis. Specifically, the units of analysis are terminological unit and formational unit analyzing based on 'understanding' of each terminology for the analysis of terminological unit while analyzing based on 'understanding' and 'importance' for the analysis of formational unit.
As a result of analysis, the terminologies have been identified as having low 'understanding' compared to the formational unit of terminologies while the productivity level that each vocabulary carries was determined through the process of analyzing the 'importance' of word-formation vocabularies. These identified 'understanding' and 'importance' of word-formation vocabulary were made into scores to be applied as the standard of list organization. In result, a 'word-formation vocabulary list of terminologies for education' composed of a total of 869 vocabularies that can reduce the burden of students and strive for learning efficiency in studying terminologies has been presented.
The result of this study is able to find significance from the fact that it has provided a useful basic material that can be used in teaching-learning of grammar terminologies and suggested one of ways for teaching-learning of terminologies by applying the list organization method focused on the effective usage aspect.
