This experiment attempts to find the limit and problems of current smart-phone foreign language education application, focusing on producing superior quality of educational application.
As the new paradigm of professor-studying experiment rises following the current ubiquitous social trend, the recent smart-phone education application software usages have increased dramatically with the extension of electronic media application in real educational environment. The smart-phone's excellent custom component, transfer ability and accessibility led various learners and professors to focus on application usages. This incident imposes necessity in development of application software that is comprised of better quality of contents that fit learners' characteristics. However, even with over 11 kinds of Chinese educational application that has been ranked in top 100, sold in Appstore for a month in October, there has not been a Chinese educational application that considers learners' characteristics. Moreover, by reviewing those Chinese educational application sold in Korea and China, several of them have been recycling information from current books or educational contents in the web, not fitting to smart-phone system. Almost every Chinese educational application has been produced with only focusing on memorization without any appraisal or feedback of learners' academic performance. In order to improve on from such system, we analyzed the types and characteristics of various types of good customed English educational application. Then we divided the contents into 4 categories of listening, speaking, reading and writing to produce a Chinese educational application that fully considers learners' characteristics. Lastly, we even linked web Daum site and smart-phone daum site application to find out about the effects of Chinese educational application using CCTV(China Central Television, CCTV) and surveyed 10 smart-phone possessors who have learned Chinese over 2 years. Following the survey results, learners do not access CCTV that often but they firmly believe in the necessity of Chinese educational application using CCTV. All the users of CCTV educational application proved the effectiveness of CCTV education. Although some users have complained about the difficulty of typing with the small screen, people found the effectiveness of small size when learning on move and majority of people were generally satisfied with the educational flow.
The establishment of ubiquitous network environment throughout all social fields is not far away to happen. Therefore, the society needs to give great attention to not only current smart phones but also on the development of application that considers both the reinforcement reality and cloud computing environment. It is important to constantly pay attention in the fields of Chinese education in order not to let it fall behind of current social trend. The constant experiment and development of Chinese educational application based on smart phones is required.
