The purpose of this study was to compare stress, spouse support, and marital satisfaction of married immigrant women between urban and rural areas.
The subjects were 100 married immigrant women from multicultural family-support center in Daejeon and 100 married immigrant women from multicultural family-support center in rural areas.
The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficients, and were analyzed using multiple regression, Scheffe test using SPSS 17.0 program.
The results of this study can be summarized as follows;
1. Married immigrant women living in urban and rural housewife's total stress showed similarly, there was no significantly different between urban and rural(t=-.51, p=.608).
Married immigrant women living in urban and rural areas of the acculturative stress showed rural immigrant women higher than urban immigrant women(t=5.80, p<.001).
Spouse support of Married immigrant women living in urban higher than married immigrant women living in rural, which was significantly different(t=-6.08, p<.001).
Married immigrant women living in rural and urban in marital satisfaction pointed significant difference (t=-3.56, p<.001), married immigrant women from city express marital satisfaction higher than rural.
2. Married immigrant women from urban based on general characteristics of the acculturative stress that were showed a significant difference with the final degree of immigrant women, spouse's education, marriage duration, monthly income, Korean language skills, family structure, presence of children. on the other hand, as for rural residence were showed significant difference in age, marriage duration, Korean abilities.
Married immigrant women from urban areas based on general characteristics of the spouse support that showed significant difference with spouse's age, spouse's education, marriage duration, Korean language skills. on the other hand, married immigrant women living in rural that they showed significantly different in Korean language skills, family structure. Immigrant women from urban areas based on general characteristics of the marital satisfaction showed significantly different with age of the spouse, spouse education, monthly income. As for immigrant women living in rural, there was significant difference in the rural areas that was Korean language skills.
3. Factors affecting marital satisfaction of the married immigrant women living in the city and rural areas were housewife stress, acculturation stress, spouse support, and living with parents-in-laws .
Rural residents of the immigrant women's acculturation stress higher than immigrant women from urban areas, and spousal support , marital satisfaction were lower than urban residents. as for both urban and rural immigrant women, when they living with parents- in-laws, and reduce the housewife stress, acculturative stress, increase spouse support, at alst their marital satisfaction would be satisfy. Therefore, nurses help married immigrant women living in the urban and rural areas to reduce cultural stress, makes them adapt Korea culture, resource utilization for them. like this nursing care strategy would be increase marital satisfaction. ultimately, contribute to the mental health of these women in Korea's life.
