The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of business entities' meal service quality upon user satisfaction. For this, the investigator empirically analyzed such six variables as menu, price, mood, sanitation, employee service and restaurant facilities based on preceding studies. A questionnaire of 700 users of business entities' meal service in the capital area was carried out over the period of October 1 to 21, 2009. Collected data of 495 respondents were used in final analysis. Statistical analysis was carried out with the SPSS WIN 12.0 program and the level of significance was set in p<.05. And such analytic techniques as Multi-regression analysis, factor analysis and Frequency analysis were used.
Study findings are as follows:
First, the hypothesis that menu, price, sanitation and restaurant facilities would have a significant influence upon user satisfaction was accepted, whereas the hypothesis that mood and employee service would have a significant influence upon user satisfaction was rejected.
These results show that the most influential factors for user satisfaction are the menu and price of food and the sanitation and cleanliness of business entities' meal service are important factors which are related to user satisfaction. In addition, the factor of restaurant facilities has a significant influence upon user satisfaction. This is seemingly because the air-conditioning and heating equipments of business entities' meal service facilities and such surrounding environmental factors as moisture, temperature and noise have influence upon user satisfaction.
The hypothesis that the mood of meal service businesses would have a significant influence upon user satisfaction was rejected. It is seemingly not because the mood factor of business entities' meal service is not important but because the recognition of the perception and satisfaction with the mood of business entities' meal service is low.
In addition, the hypothesis that the employee service would have a significant influence upon user satisfaction was rejected. It is seemingly because users of business entities' meal service have no great expectations for employee service in general.
In this study, the investigator examined the influence of such demographic features as employment pattern, gender, marital status and age upon the above six variable-based user satisfaction via independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. As for the employment pattern-based satisfaction with menu, clerical workers are high. And female is higher than male, thus presenting the fact that female's satisfaction with menu is high (p<.05). Marital status also has influence upon the satisfaction with menu. Unmarried persons' satisfaction with menu is a little higher than that of married persons. As for age, persons in their 40s are high (p<.001). As for the employment pattern-based satisfaction with mood, clerical workers are high. And unmarried persons' satisfaction with mood is higher than that of married persons. As for the age based satisfaction with mood, younger persons are high in general (p<.001).
As for the employment pattern-based satisfaction with employee service, clerical workers are high. It is seemingly because clerical workers are mainly carrying out mental labor and interested in the lunch provided by their company. Regarding marital status, unmarried persons' satisfaction with employee service is higher than that of married persons. Regarding age, younger persons are high in their satisfaction with employee service.
As for the employment pattern-based satisfaction with restaurant facilities, clerical workers are high and business entities are low (p<.05). Regarding gender, female is higher than male (p<.001). Regarding marital status, unmarried persons' satisfaction with restaurant facilities is higher than that of married persons (p<.001).
The investigator hopes that future studies will expand regional scopes and deal with a variety of independent variables which could have influence upon customer satisfaction with business entities' meal service.
