청소년의 스트레스, 절망감, 사회적 지지와 자살생각과의 관계

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 점점 늘어가는 청소년 자살에 대한 뚜렷한 원인과 예방책이 없는 안타까움에 우리나라 청소년 중 중학생과 고등학생을 대상으로 스트레스, 절망감, 사회적 지지와 자살생각과의 관계를 규명하여 청소년 자살예방 대책을 마련하고, 청소년 복지차원에서 내실 있고 실천적인 정책 기반의 자살 예방 방안을 모색할 수 있도록 하는데 그 목적이 있다.
이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 수도권 지역에 위치한 중학교 학생 182명과 고등학교 학생 121명의 총 303명을 대상으로 선정하여, 2010년 4월 19일부터 4월 30일까지 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 자료의 분석은 SPSS WIN 15.0 프로그램을 활용하여 독립표본 t검정 및 일원배치 분산분석(ANOVA), 상관관계 분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 자살생각, 스트레스, 절망감, 사회적 지지의 경우를 살펴보면, 남자보다 여자가 자살생각과 사회적 지지가 높았고, 학교소속은 고등학생보다 중학생이 자살생각과 사회적 지지가 높았으며, 성적은 하위권 학생들이 가장 자살생각과 절망감이 높았으며, 상위권 학생들은 사회적 지지가 높았다.
둘째, 자살생각과 스트레스, 절망감, 사회적 지지와의 관계를 살펴보기 위해 상관관계 분석을 실시한 결과는 스트레스가 증가하면 청소년들의 절망감과 자살생각 정도가 높아졌고, 절망감이 증가하면 청소년들의 스트레스와 자살생각 정도가 높아졌다. 마지막으로 사회적 지지가 높으면 청소년들이 절망감이 줄어들고 스트레스를 적게 받으며, 자살생각을 적게 하였다.
셋째, 스트레스가 청소년의 자살생각에 미치는 영향에 대해서 스트레스의 증가는 청소년들의 자살생각을 높이는데 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
이상의 결론을 통하여 학생들의 자살에 미치는 요인들을 파악하여 자살을 예방하기 위해 몇 가지 제언을 하면, 첫째, 자살 생각과 자살 시도를 구분하여 측정할 수 있는 구체적인 척도의 개발을 통해 자살 생각을 하는 위험군을 조기에 선별할 수 있도록 노력해야 할 것이다.
둘째, 본 연구 결과를 근거자료로 삼아 청소년 자살생각에 대한 심층적인 질적 연구를 한다면 청소년 자살생각에 대한 자료를 확보하기에 용이할 것이다.
셋째, 스트레스, 절망감, 사회적 지지, 자살생각에 대한 관계를 명확히 검증하기 위해서는 장기간에 걸친 종단연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.
넷째, 조사 방법을 설문조사에 한정하지 않고 연구 대상자들의 보다 폭넓은 의견을 수렴해서 심층적으로 연구한다면 청소년 자살예방 해결에 도움이 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Even though adolescent suicides are continually increasing in Korea, there is no practical preventive measure so far. Therefore, the study tried to seek and provide measures for adolescent suicide prevention based on stable and practical policies in the aspects of adolescent welfare by examining the relationship between suicidal ideation, and stress, despair and social support.
To achieve the purpose, 303 students(182 middle school students and 121 high school students) in the Seoul metropolitan area were collected and a survey was conducted for them from April 19 to April 30, 2010. To analyze the data, SPSS WIN 15.0 was used and independent samples t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed. The results were as follows. Firstly, regarding suicidal ideation, stress, despair and social support according to demographic characteristics, female students showed higher suicidal ideation and social support than male students, high school students showed higher suicidal ideation and social support than middle school students, low performing students showed the highest suicidal ideation and despair and high performing students showed high social support. Secondly, the results of correlation analysis to find out the relationship between suicidal ideation and stress, despair and social support were as follows. When their stress level increased, their despair and suicidal ideation increased accordingly. When their despair level increased, their stress and suicidal ideation increased accordingly. When their social support level is high, their despair and stress level decreased and their suicidal ideation decreased, too.？ Thirdly, regarding the influence of stress on their suicidal ideation, the increased stress level influenced in increasing their suicidal ideation.？ Based on the results, the following measures should be done to prevent their suicide. Firstly, high risk group with high suicidal ideation should be sorted in advance by developing a practical scale which can divide and measure suicidal ideation and suicide attempts. Secondly, in-depth qualitative studies on their suicidal ideation based on the study results are needed to secure data for their suicidal ideation.
Thirdly, long-term longitudinal studies are needed to verify the relationship among stress, despair, social support, and suicidal ideation.
Fourth, in-depth studies gathering data from adolescents' various opinions besides surveys are needed to prevent their suicide.
