Korea, experiencing fast change of Information Technology, is keeping up with the globalization, which can exchange information transcending time and space. In Information Age One of many changes is the use of various Communications media, of which Internet and Mobile Phones are mandatory in present time. Especially, to adolescents Internet and Mobile Phones are not the simple Office Supplies but the useful media which is related to the daily life like studying, entertainment, fellowship.
In korean society the Internet has been exceedingly applied and expanded since the late 1990. Among the expansion the adolescent rate of using the internet is increasing day by day and also the Mobile Phone is becoming the massive media as a new media to adolescents and regardless of gender.
Likewise, the rapid spread of Internet and Mobile Phones gave the adolescents not only the convenience in daily living but also side effects according to the excessive abuse like Addiction of Internet and Mobile Phones. The adolescents who are immature physically and mentally can’t have self-control by absorbing immoderately games, chatting, and pornography. So the result of it is that academic decline, visual loss, insomnia, loss of appetite, poor concentration, lethargy, deterioration of family relationships and a variety of problems happen and furthermore social problems such as juvenile delinquency or crime are causing even.
Therefore under awareness about these issues and on the basis of the existing data of Internet and Mobile Phone Addiction of Adolescent this study was that how Internet and Mobile Phones were used to the adolescents and accordingly what the problem was. Among several issues, the shocking thing is that the ratio of addicted adolescents was two times higher as compared to other age groups. In addition, in adolescence maladjustment problems on studies appeared. This fact makes the adolescence addiction to Internet and Mobile Phones be considered more seriously than the adult addiction in that adolescence is the important time for employment and career development to be achieved in upcoming adult and especially the fact that adolescents are far from the established values suggests that an alternative to proper use and cultural settlement of Internet and Mobile Phones is needed. Therefore this study proposed ways to in advance prevent and heal Internet and Mobile Phone Addiction of Adolescent.
First, there should be an awareness of issues of Internet and mobile phone addiction. And then the time spent in Internet and Mobile Phones have to be reduced and instead other hobbies should be done since excessively immersing adolescents in Internet and Mobile Phones is related to the poor leisure and culture of adolescents.
Second, there should be closely links and interests in home and school and community to make adolescents recognize hazards and wavelength of cyber crime and prohibit them from being addicted. Finally, the Pan-Government must act to resolve dysfunction.
Likewise by providing ways to prevent and heal Internet and Mobile Phone Addiction of Adolescent a resolution of Internet and Mobile Phone Addiction of Adolescent that is being increasingly serious was sought.
