The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between leader
behavior type and satisfaction of athlete and instructing effectiveness
of university Taekwondo athletes. To achieve this aim, the athletes who
participated in the 32nd Collegiate League Match for President's Flag
were assumed to be the population; 530 were sampled with simple random
sampling method, and data derived from a total of 493 was finally used.
This data processed by using SPSS 14.0, frequency analysis, t-test,
One-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis
suggest the following findings.
First, in the mean difference tests of social demographic backgrounds,
in the test for school type the 4-year-course university group in the
metropolitan area scored high in answering aggressive and rewarding
leader behavior type, high athlete satisfaction, high leadership
satisfaction, and high functional improvement; regional 4-year-course
university athletes answered democratic and humane leader behavior type,
vocational college athletes in the metropolitan area scored high in
athlete satisfaction. In the test for weight division, lightweight
groups and heavyweight class 1 groups answered aggressive and rewarding
leader behavior type; In the test for group organization, the first
group scored high in aggressive and rewarding leader behavior type,
athlete satisfaction, leadership satisfaction, functional and
improvement; the first, second and fourth group showed a high score of
humane leadership behavior type, and the first and third group scored
high in authoritarian leadership behavior type. In the test for athlete
careers, in all groups excluding the under 3 years group, aggressive
leadership behavior type ranked high; the over 7 years group showed high
athlete satisfaction, the under 7 years group answered high leadership
satisfaction. Second, the positiveness of the impact of leadership
behavior type on athlete satisfaction was in the order of: aggressive,
authoritarian, rewarding, humane. Third, the positiveness of the impact
of the leadership behavior type on leadership efficiency was in the
order of: the aggressive, rewarding, authoritarian, function-improving
type and the aggressive and rewarding leadership behavior type. Fourth,
athlete satisfaction was found to have positive impacts on both
leadership satisfaction and functional improvement of leadership
efficiency.
