The purpose of this study is to seek the methods improving the quality of special-education school education by comparing and analyzing which effects job stress suffered by special-education school teachers at the chalkface makes on job commitment with general school teachers. So the followed research questions , research subjects and methods were set.
The research questions in this study are are as follows. First, what are the differences of job stress factors between general school teachers and special-education school teachers? Second, what are the differences of job commitment between general school teachers and special-education school teachers? Third, what are the relations between job stress and job commitment for all of general school teachers and special-education school teachers? Fourth, what are the relations between job stress factors and job commitment factors in case of general school teachers? Fifth, what are the relations between job stress factors and job commitment factors in case of special-education school teachers?
The subjects the study were 309 teachers of general school and special-education school located in Gangwon-do. The questionnaire methodology was used for them, Kyungsuk, An's questionnaire for teacher's job stress standards and factors was used for examining teacher's job stress factors and Jonghee, Noh's questionnaire for teacher's job commitment was used for measuring teacher's job commitment. The ‘Cronbach's α’ coefficient was calculated for analyzing reliability of measuring tool and independent sample t-test and Pearson's Correlation Analysis were conducted for analyzing the research questions.
The main studying findings are as followed.
First, in the result of comparing and analyzing job stress of general school teachers and special-education school teachers, there wasn't significant difference between two groups in student relation, school parent relation and teacher relation among the four factors of job stress(student relation, school parent relation, teacher relation and principal relation). In principal relation stress, special-education teachers perceived higher stress than general school teachers.
Second, in the result of analyzing job commitment of general school teachers and special-education teachers, among the three factors of job commitment(sense of professionalism, affection for teaching and ardor), there was significant difference in only affection for teaching and there wasn't in sense of professionalism and ardor. In affection for teaching, general school teachers were higher than special-education school teachers.
Third, in the result of analyzing the relations between job stress and job commitment of general school teachers and special-education teachers on the whole, school parent relation and teacher relation stress factors except for student relation stress factors showed significant correlation for sense of professionalism and affection for teaching in job commitment but there wasn't significant correlation for ardor. Principal relation stress showed significant correlation for all factors of job commitment, such as sense of professionalism, affection for teaching and ardor.
Fourth, in the result of analyzing the relation between job stress and job commitment under the object of general school teachers, student relation stress factors didn't show significant correlation with three factors of job commitment. School parent relation, teacher relation, principal relation stress factors showed significant negative correlation with sense of professionalism and affection for teaching in job commitment.
Fifth, in the result of analyzing the relation between job stress and job commitment under the object of special-education school teachers, student relation stress factors didn't show significant correlation with three factors of job commitment. School parent relation stress showed significant correlation with sense of professionalism and affection for teaching. Teacher relation and principal relation stress factors showed significant negative correlation with three factors of job commitment(sense of professionalism, affection for teaching and ardor).
As mentioned above, it's most important to improve the relation between principal and teachers for reducing teacher's job stress, the intimate cooperative relation between teachers and school parents are necessary for relieving it and the efforts showing comradeship are necessary for heightening mutual confidence of teachers.
