Object : This study was designed to find the psycho-pathologic features of sa-sang constitutions and the same features in sub-groups divided by both the health level and the age.
Method : We selected 405 subjects in their twenties and 382 in sixties. The O.M.D.s, specially trained with sa-sang constitution medicine, classified volunteers into constitutions, which enabled us to believe that the constitution of each subject is pretty certain. SCL-90-R test was given to these selected subjects. At the same time, SF-36 test was performed to divide the subjects into healthy and unhealthy groups.
Results :
1. In all symptoms except hospitality Soyangins marked lower scores than either Soeumins or Taeumins.
2. In the analysis using ratio value ( which was obtained through dividing the score of one symptom by the total score of SCL-90-R), Soeumin marked higher scores than the other two constitutional groups in depression, and Soyangin did in hospitality, paranoid ideation and psychoticism.
When the age was taken into account, Soemins in their twenties marked higher scores than the other two constitutional groups in interpersonal sensitivity. On the other hand, Soemins in their sixties did mark higher scores than the other two constitutional groups in obsessive-compulsive.
3. Under effects of constitution, the difference in scores due to symptoms was larger among subjects in their sixties than among those in their twenties. This difference also was larger in the unhealthy group than in the healthy one.
Conclusion : The subjects showed particular profiles of psycho-pathologic symptoms depending on their constitution. The profile turned out to be more outstanding both in the unhealthy group and in the aged group.
