복합산업개발을 통한 지방공항 활성화 전략 : 청주공항을 중심으로 = Strategy options to develop local airports into air-related industry cluster : the case of Chungju Internaional Airport

국문 초록 (Abstract)

21세기는 항만, 철도, 고속도로를 중심으로 도시가 발달되던 시대와는 달리 공항을 중심으로 도시가 발달하는 공항도시의 시대로 이행하고 있다. 대다수의 공항들은 공항지역이 국가경제의 견인차 역할을 할 중요한 지점임을 인식하고 물류산업의 중심지, 국제 업무 및 관광산업의 중심지, 첨단산업의 중심지로 거듭나기 위하여 공항 주변지역 활용에 관심을 집중하고 있다.
최근 경기침체와 육상교통체계의 지속적인 확충으로 인하여 항공수요가 감소하게 되었고 그에 따라 일부 공항의 항공수익도 적자를 기록하고 있다. 이러한 위기를 극복하기 위해서는 공항의 장점을 살린 복합산업개발이 필요하며, 정부와 공항당국 그리고 지자체의 노력이 요구된다.
본 연구는 청주국제공항을 항공복합도시로 활성화시키기 위하여 전문가 조사 및 해외사례분석을 통해 청주공항에 적합한 산업이 무엇인지 도출하고 각 산업의 현황 및 여건을 분석하여 개발 추진 전략을 제시하였다.

This paper identified opportunities and difficulties of Chungju International Airport and other local airports in Korea experiencing decreases in demand mostly due to global economic recession and keener competition from high speed railway system through in-depth interviews and case studies; studied methodologies and strategic options for revitalization through analyzing literatures and best practices; identified relative importance of critical success factors for mixed-use development to grow into commercial hub airport based on AHP analysis; identified industries with good prospects for Chungju Airport also based on AHP analysis; and suggested strategy options for multi-purpose development including MRO, aerospace-related manufacturing, and other air-related industries for Chungju Airport.
