The analysis of information was conducted using SPSS 12.0 statistics program, and frequency analysis was conducted to examine the understanding of teachers and satisfaction level of students on after-school math program, and the information was processed through cross-tabulation to comparatively analyze the differences in urban & rural areas.
The following conclusions have been obtaining through the study analysis.
First, the teachers in rural area preferred for the program to be conducted with small number of students within 10 students more so than the teachers in urban area, and said lessons according to students' levels are all the more needed since the differences in students' levels are bigger than that of the students in urban area. Therefore, there is a need for a plan to appropriately classify the levels of students in carrying out the program in rural area, and appropriate lesson methods such as seminar lessons according to subjects, Q&A type lessons focusing on students' questions and lecture type lessons and sufficient number of lessons are needed because of the big difference in the level of students.
Second, as for the teacher composition of after-school math program of high school, the teachers in urban area mostly preferred the teachers from the same school and the teachers in rural area said outside lecturers with teacher certification are needed compared to the teachers in urban area. Therefore, there is a need for a plan to reduce excessive work burden of teachers in urban area, and a plan to utilize capable regional lecturers or parents of students to assure excellent lecturers in rural area.
Third, it was revealed that the students in rural area were less satisfied with the after-school math program of high school than the students in urban area. Therefore, there is a need for a plan to revitalize the after-school math program in rural area such as the inter-school program according to the regional condition, management of base school, homecoming mentoring and establishment of free lecturers through financial support.
Fourth, it was revealed that the students' satisfaction level on the after-school math program of high school was lower compared to that of other after-school programs. Therefore, there is a need to develop various high-quality math programs that reflect the students' needs in order to increase their satisfaction level.
Fifth, the teachers commonly considered the lack of awareness of teachers and excessive number of students per teacher as the biggest problems in the current after-school math program. Especially, it was revealed through the research that increasing the number of teachers is the most urgent issue in the rural area. In addition, it is being seen that solving these issues will make it possible to alleviate the educational disparity between the urban & rural areas in the after-school math program and replace private education costs. Therefore, there is a need for a plan to grant teachers of professionalism and sense of responsibility for them to be the main body and the increase of number of teachers to reduce the number of students per teacher and the support for overall facilities.
