사회적 기술 훈련 프로그램이 유아의 공격성 및 또래 유능성에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Social Skills Training Program on Children's Aggression and Peer Competence

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of social skills training program on children's aggression and peer competence. Therefore, the research was conducted by dividing the research questions as follows.

The research questions were posed as follows :
First, what is the effect of social skills training program on children's aggression?
Second, what is the effect of social skills training program on children's peer competence?
A total of 200 public kindergarten children of aging 5 years in Gyeongsangbuk-do K City were given a test on their aggression. 30 children who had a high score were participated in this study. These children were assigned to experimental group(N=15) and control group(N=15).
To achieve this purpose, the social skills training program, developed by Jung kyung-hwa, Doh hyun-sim(2005), was modified by Kim min-jung and utilized. The program for the experimental group was conducted a total 16 times, two times a week, for 50～60 minutes a session, from 1st of June to 24th of July in 2009 by each class teacher. To investigate the effects of this program, pre- and post-test were carried out with aggression and peer competence. The data collected from this research were statistically analyzed using SPSS/WIN 12.0 statistical software and an ANCOVA test. Peer competence-test(pretest) was conducted to find out the homogeneity of the two groups, and posttest was conducted from 27th of July to 29th of July 2009, after experimental treatment in order to know its effect.

The main results from this research are as follows:
First, the social skills training program has the positive effect on the decrease of children's aggression.
Second, the social skills training program has the positive effect on the increase of children's peer competence.
These results suggest that the Social Skills Training Program is an effective strategy to deal with aggression, peer competence in children.

Therefore, this research has its meaning in that it provides the basic data for practicing the systematic educational activities for reduction of children's aggression and enhancement of their peer competence by developing the children's social skills training program based on the kindergarten education process.
