Most of disabled people have low motivation of learning, but deaf people is firm of purpose to learn. There is a almost no difference between the public and deaf people except the difficulty of hearing and it is not difficulty that they have knowledge acquisition of other areas if having sentence proficiency. In this study, it shows both deaf people having sentence proficiency stay in better field instead of staying in the blue collar sector and the relevance of efficient computer education. This study urges that it is necessity to educate specialized and efficient computer studies for the deaf by examining how much is it worth to educate computer studies, what kind of education they want to listen to, how does it effect to them and how would it expect to be affected.
In this Study, 4 types of questionnaires were used. 4 types of questionnaires were written by the four groups of panel which were consist of the deaf middle/high school, college, graduate, employed and unemployed. In case of middle/high school, the research was investigated at three of deaf school but because of no students in college and graduate, we selected colleges where a lot of the deaf went to and had a visiting research in that place. We got information about the employed and unemployed from the deaf association of Seoul, Gyeonggi, Chungnam areas and the 2009 disabled job fair in chungnam.
The results of this study are as follows.
This study is analyzed that the special schools where the deaf are educated start lately to educate computers compared to other vocational education and the special teachers who are responsible for training computer skills are not specialized and also the expertise is not good as a result that the computer training courses are not clearly organized. The panels said the lack of ability of computer teachers was the one of the most difficulty and therefore the computer teachers' expertise was most needed during receiving the education. The more young people, the more people learned a lot of knowledge had highly recognized the need in the computer education. The computer literacy of 70% of the deaf was significantly lower compared to the use of computer and internet. We should consider why it does happen despite receiving computer education in most schools. They responded the art&craft which most schools for the deaf were teaching was almost no help at work, by contrast they were eager to listen to computer education as going to private schools. The computer and information processing fields were shown as the most desired training and also office workers, the computer and information processing fields related to the computer skills were shown as desired career fields. The computer-related qualifications were the highest percentage in possession of qualifications and certificate holders said that because of being helpful at work, they had obtained it. Among current workers, the respondents related to office, education, social welfare responded to need computer skills and although the works dealing with machines and production said it would not be necessary, in case of production workers, they said it would be useful to work in a better job field if they have computer skills.
When analyzing the results of the study, we knows that the deaf have a desire to learn the skills of computer helping to find out the better jobs. But it is fact that there is the lack of computer― based training and the effective computer training is not available currently in our society. If the specialized and efficient computer education is provided for the deaf, it would be helpful to find out better jobs they wish for.
