The study was designed to investigate the effects of 12-week Qigong training on body composition and blood pressure in obese old women aged 60-78 years. Fourteen subjects who had percent of body fat over 30% were selected from the members of H pubic health center. Then they participated in the twelve weeks of Qigong program. Before and after the training program, percent body fat, ressure of SBP, DBP, MAP, were measured and compared between pre and post test. Paired t-test was utilized to detect the mean difference between the pre and post test. The results of this study were as follows:
1. After twelve weeks of Qigong training, weight, %body fat, fat mass, total body water, of subjects significantly were decreased(P<.05) and LBM and BMR significantly were increased(P<.05).
2. After twelve weeks of Qigong training, SBP, DBP and MAP were significantly decreased(P<.01).
Based these findings, it was concluded that Qigong training was effective to decrease percent body fat, in obese old women aged 60-78 years if the training was conducted for long period despite the low intensity of the Qigong training.
