The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of the program for improving happiness on subjective well-bing and School life adjustments of high school students.
In order to achieve the goal of this study, the research questions are as follows.
First, is it possible for the program to enhance subjective well-being?
Second, is the program able to make school life adjustments increase?
In order to solve the questions, this study is based on two hypotheses.
Hypothesis 1. The program for improving happiness will enhance Subjective well-being.
Hypothesis 2. The program for improving happiness will increase School life adjustments.
In the seventh study, the measurement of happiness which was devised by Lee, Jeong Hwa, in 2005, was used to measure Subjective Well-being. But the measurement was revised and supplemented to meet the level of high school students with the help of professor Jo. In addition, Moon, Eun Sik‘s the measurement of School adjustments behavior, which was revised and supplemented by Choi, Im Suk, was used to measure the ability of School adjustments.
In this study, the program for improving happiness took advantage of the program devised by Jang, Jin Woo in 2008. But Mr. Jang's program was made for university students. So it is revised and supplemented to meet the level of high school students.
To complete this research, thirty voluntary students in the second grade of high school located in Okcheon took part in the study. They are divided into two groups, experimental group vs the control group, and each group consisted of 15 students. Then the program for improving happiness was applied to the experimental group.
The research was conducted by the researcher ten times during 10 weeks. Each research lasted 50 minutes.
On the other hand, the control group completed the self study.
The results of this research were analyzed by SPSS for Windows.
The results of the program for improving happiness were as follows:
First, there were significant differences between pre-test and after test among the experimental group in Subjective Well-being increase.
Second, there were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group after the test of the ability to adjust in school life.
The research was conducted to see if the program for improving happiness can increase Subjective well-being and School life adjustments. According to the research, there's a conclusion like this;
First, the research showed that the students in the experimental group who took part in the program for improving happiness had a considerable increase in Subjective Well-being.
Second, the research also showed that the students in the experimental group who took part in the program for improving happiness had a considerable increase in School life adjustments.
