The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between job stress and psychological well-being of elementary school teachers.
In order to achieve the purpose of this study, research questions posed in this study were as follows :
1. Are there any differences in job stress according to gender and duty position, school size, age, teaching experience?
2. Are there any relationships between job stress and psychological well-being of elementary school teachers?
The participants in this study were 176 teachers in the 11 elementary schools in Chung-buk. The questionnaires to measure job stress and psychological well-being were administred to the teachers. The data obtained were analyzed by t-tests and ANOVA using the SAS program.
The results of this study are as follows :
1. There were significant differences in job stress according to gender, school size and age : 1)The females scored significantly higher than the males in job stress. ; 2)The schools which have more than 18 classes scored significantly higher than the schools which have 17 classes or less in job stress. ; 3)Teachers of 20~30 age scored significantly higher 50 age in job stress. However there were no significant differences in job stress according to duty position and teaching experience.
2. There were significant relationships between job stress and psychological well-being of elementary school teachers.
