The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of reciprocal teaching on young children's creativity how picture reading activities of picture book through reciprocal teaching would affect young children's creativity improvement.
The subjects of research were randomly selected from 5-aged 20 young children of a kindergarten located in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. 20 young children participating in the study were allocated each in 10 into a test group that experiences picture reading activities of picture book through reciprocal teaching and a control group that only listens to picture book.
The test tool was ‘Integrated creativity test, and used for pre and post test for young children’(Kyung-Hwa Lee, 2003) equally. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 12.0 program in order to verify difference between two groups.
The results of this study were as follows.
First, it has proved that picture reading activities of picture book through reciprocal teaching have had influence on improvement of young children's integrated creativity.
Second, it has proved that picture reading activities of picture book through reciprocal teaching have had influence on improvement of young children's linguistic creativity ability.
Third, it has proved that picture reading activities of picture book through reciprocal teaching have had influence on improvement of young children's figure creativity ability.
Fourth, it has proved that the young children of a test group who have experienced picture reading activities of picture book through reciprocal teaching have higher score in total in creative personality than that of the young children of a control group. It doesn't sactiany significant difference at all in statistics. This result means that the experience in the picture reading activities of picture book through reciprocal teaching is hardly expetivitto influence improve al ividuall in crive charativristics for young children in a short run unlike recognitive characteristics of creativity.
After taking overall consideration of above results, it has been found that the experience in picture reading activities of picture book through reciprocal teaching might be able to improve creativity. Therefore, it sounds reasonable that we should make use of it while educating young children's creativity in the field of education.
