부부친밀감 및 아동이 지각한 부부갈등이 대인관계능력에 미치는 영향 : 정서안정성의 매개효과 = (The) influence of marital intimacy and children's perceived parental conflict on interpersonal relations ability : the mediating effects of emotional security

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 부부관계가 자녀의 특성에 영향을 미친다는 선행연구를 바탕으로 부부친밀감과 아동이 지각한 부부갈등이 자녀의 대인관계에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 그리고 부부관계와 자녀의 특성을 매개하는 기제를 알아보기 위해 정서적 안정성 가설을 근거로 부부친밀감과 대인관계능력 사이에서 정서안정성의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울시내의 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생 239명을 대상으로 아동이 지각한 부부갈등척도(CPIC), 정서안정성 척도, 대인관계능력 척도를 사용하여 자료를 수집하였고 그의 부모에 대해서는 부부친밀감 척도를 사용하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 SPSS 프로그램을 이용하여 회귀분석, Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 매개효과 검증의 분석방법을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모의 부부친밀감이 자녀의 대인관계능력에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아본 결과 유의미한 효과가 나타났다. 둘째, 아동이 지각한 부모갈등이 자녀의 대인관계능력에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아본 결과 유의미한 효과가 나타났다. 셋째, 부부친밀감과 자녀의 대인관계능력에 대한 아동의 정서안정성의 매개효과를 살펴본 결과 부분매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 통해 부부관계의 부정적인 측면이 자녀의 특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보던 기존 연구와는 달리 부부관계의 긍정적인 측면이 아동의 적응적 측면에 주는 영향을 알아보았으며, 부부관계가 자녀의 적응적 특성에 미치는 영향에서 아동의 어떠한 심리내적 기제가 작용하는지에 관심을 가지고 정서안정성의 매개효과를 밝혔다는데 그 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Building on previous literature on the influence of marital relationship on characteristics of children, the purpose of this study was, first, to explore whether marital intimacy and children's perceived parental conflict affect children's social interactions, and secondly, to investigate the mediating effect of emotional security on the relationship between marital intimacy and interpersonal relations ability. This latter purpose was an effort to find out a possible mechanism mediating marital relationship and children's characteristics and was guided by the emotional security hypothesis.
To achieve these objectives, a sample of 239 subjects, who were attending the 5th and 6th grades of elementary schools in Seoul, Korea, were selected and administered questionnaires to measure the variables employing the Children's Perceptions of Interparental Conflict (CPIC) scales, emotional security scales, and interpersonal relations ability scales. Data were analyzed, using the SPSS program to conduct the regression analysis and the statistical test for mediation suggested by Baron and Kenny(1986).
The findings were summarized as follows: First, it was found that marital intimacy significantly, positively affected children's interpersonal relations ability. Second, it was found that perceived parental conflict among children also significantly positively affected children's interpersonal relations ability. It was shown that there existed a partial mediating effect of children's emotional security on the impact of marital intimacy on interpersonal relations ability.
These findings led to an answer to an alternative approach focused on a positive aspect of marital relationship instead of the traditional focus on negative aspects of marital relationship as factors in influencing children's characteristics including adaptive ones. This study has some significance as well in finding out the mediating effects of emotional security, being mindful of the distinctive question of what intra-psychic mechanism may be responsible for the impact of marital relationship on children's adaptive characteristics.
