유아 그림책 일러스트레이션의 선호도 연구 = A study on preferences in illustration of infant picture books

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Infants grow up interacting continuously with their environment. Although there are many things to influence their growing and developing process, picture books for infants could be one of the most important role. To infants who can not read yet, the world of pictures can allow them to have endless imagination and infinite creativeness with developing senses and broadening the range of thinking, so psychological, intellectual, and potential influence can be given to them. As infants can understand and achieve direct or indirect experiences of society through picture books, illustration of picture books could be more important than any others.
By characteristics of picture books, educational big effect can be expected through selection and practical application of adequate picture books based on the theory of infants' recognition development, and we can say that good quality illustration complying with the expectation is absolutely important. Adequate illustration for infants means that recognition development process is deeply considered and manufactured, selected, and accepted only by the view of infants. Therefore, in this study, investigation of preferences was conducted to infants and their mothers, who made actual decision to select picture books, and through the analysis of investigation, direction of the most adequate expression for infants in the manufacturing of picture books was searched.
Brief summary of this study are shown below.
Firstly, illustration suited to contents can be presented.
Secondly, picture books which allow babies to get various experience are desirable.
Thirdly, various methods of expression must be shown.
Fourthly, to make better illustration of picture books than present one, illustrators' effort can be most important.
In conclusion, adult who makes and chooses picture books must have an attitude trying to be close to new books with understanding of infants and what kind of books infants like most, and also trying to manufacture picture books considering the view of infants.
For manufacturing picture books which is emphasized its important role in the growing and developing of infants, continuous research and investigation about how to choose adequate expression methods should be conducted. And to allow infants to feel enjoyment and abundant creative world, more creative and various picture books should be manufactured.
