브러시를 이용한 바디페인팅 연구 : 표현 분류에 따른 작품 제작을 중심으로 = A Study on Body Painting using Brush : Centered on making works according to expression category

In current society, Body Painting, as a 3D total art performed on human body, is watched as a beauty industry of infinite possibility and growing competitiveness while it is used for corporate advertisement, opening ceremonies and events. Though this body painting is developed and used by beauty and art-related departments, there is short of relative expert manpower and basic data against the marketability of body painting and demands for it and so there is demand for various in-depth studies in informatization era.
The use of tools in body painting gives artists free expression and new possibility at the same time. In general, many artists use air brush and brush for their works of body painting.
Air brush has good points of shortening time, smooth brightness effect and detailed line processing but it requires skilled technology for novice in body painting to use it well and so it is hard to use at first.
However, everyone can use brush easily and any artist who uses it for the first time can participate in the production of work. It can give various possibilities only if the expression methods are used correctly. Therefore, we use brush as expression tool of body painting in this study.
As for production of works, we selected themes of 10 expression categories represented in previous studies on body painting; designed illustration by using modeling elements of dot, line and plane and used brush so we could find how to use the tools and various techniques.
We could find that selecting appropriate brush increases efficiency in body painting and maximizes the reality and effectiveness.
It was turned out that the expression techniques of body painting using design elements of dot, line and plane can give possibility of new creation according to various work patterns from simple pattern to abstract image and realistic expressions. Also, we could find that brush is effective for artist's original work expression.
Such techniques are continuously developed by artist's experimental spirit, generated in the course of creating the work, and accumulated by one's own expression method; however, it is meaningful to organize various effective methods per brush and the ways to add beauty to human body academically.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대 사회에서 Body Painting은 인체에 행하는 3차원적인 입체종합예술로써 기업의 광고 및 각종 개막식, 오프닝 행사 등에 활용되어지며 무한 가능성과 함께 경쟁력을 키울 수 있는 미용 산업으로 주목받고 있다. 이러한 바디페인팅은 미용예술 관련학과들에 의해 개발되고 발전하고 있으나, 그 시장성과 수요에 비해 전문적인 인력과 기초적인 자료가 부족한 실정이므로 정보화 시대에 맞추어 다양하고 심층적인 연구를 필요로 하고 있다.
그 중 바디페인팅을 제작함에 있어서 도구의 사용은 Artist들에게 표현의 자유로움과 동시에 새로운 가능성을 부여한다. 일반적으로 바디페인팅 표현을 할 때 많은 Artist들은 Air Brush와 Brush를 사용하여 작품제작을 하고 있다.
Air Brush는 시간의 단축과 동시에 매끄러운 명암효과, 섬세한 선 처리 등의 장점이 있는 반면 초보자들이 사용하기까지 숙련된 기술을 필요로 하므로 바디페인팅을 처음 접하는 아티스트들이 사용하기가 어려운 점이 있다. 그러나 Brush는 누구나 쉽게 사용할 수 있으며 그 사용방법 또한 간단하여 처음 접하는 아티스트들도 쉽게 작품제작에 참여 할 수 있어 표현 방법을 제대로 활용할 수만 있다면 다양한 가능성을 부여할 수 있으리라 본다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 바디페인팅의 표현 도구로써 브러시를 사용하고자 한다.
작품제작에는 기존의 선행되었던 바디페인팅 고찰에 나타난 10가지 표현 분류를 주제로 선정한 후 조형적 요소인 점, 선, 면을 응용하여 일러스트로 디자인한 후 브러시를 사용하여 작품제작을 함으로써, 도구의 사용법과 이를 이용한 다양한 기법을 발견 할 수 있었다.
용도에 맞는 브러시를 선택하는 것은 바디페인팅의 능률을 올리는 동시에 사실감을 극대화하며 효과적으로 나타남을 알 수 있었다.
디자인의 조형요소인 점, 선, 면을 이용한 바디페인팅 표현기법은 문양에서부터 추상적인 이미지 표현과 사실적인 표현 등 다양한 작품 패턴에 따라 새로운 창작 가능성을 부여 할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 브러시를 통해 아티스트만의 독창적인 작품을 표현 하는데 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.
이러한 기법은 아티스트의 실험정신에 의해 계속 개발되고 작품의 창작과정에서 생성되며 자기만의 표현 방식으로 적립되기도 하나, 브러시에 따른 다양하고 효과적인 방법과 인체에 미를 부각시키는 측면을 학문적으로 정리하는데 의의를 둔다.
