This study puts the purpose in contributing to the expansion of adults in the participation of Taekwondo, the activation of Taekwondo association, and the sound sports culture of college students by elucidating the wellness inventory in accordance with the training degree of adults who belonged to the training group of Taekwondo and participated in the college Taekwondo association.
In order to realize the study purpose, this study analyzed and identified some factors; first, socio-demographic characteristics and the training degree of participants in the Taekwondo association, second, socio-demographic characteristics and wellness inventory of Taekwondo association participants, and third, the wellness inventory according to the training degree of Taekwondo Association participants.
The subjects were 287 adults who are the students of college Taekwondo association located in Seoul and Gyeonggido in 2008.
Examining the composition of questionnaire research, the training of Taekwondo association participants was measured in the frequency, period, and intensity. Items on the wellness inventory scale were developed and used by Kim Sang-kuk (2000) based on Wellness: Concepts and Application developed by Anspaugh et al.(1994). The validity of the questionnaire was verified through specialists' meeting, the pilot test, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability of the questionnaire was found to be Cronbachs α= .66 ~ .83. Data analysis was conducted through such statistical techniques as t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, standard multiple regression, using SPSS WIN 14.0 program.
As a result, the following findings were obtained:
First, it was found that socio-demographic characteristics had an effect on the training degree of college Taewondo association participants. That is, the training degree of association participants was higher in the male, higher school year, long time in training, and the higher Taewondo Dan than female, lower school year, short time in training, and the lower Taewondo Dan.
Second, it was found that the degree of socio-demographic characteristics had not an effect on the wellness of the college Taekwondo Association participants.
Third, it appeared that the training degree of college Taewondo participants had an effect on the wellness inventory. That is, it appeared that participants recognized the wellness inventory better as they participated more frequently and actively than other time.
