This study aims to offer a physical activity play program to children and to verify the effect of physical activity play on the development of children's emotional quotient and prosocial promotion.
For this purpose, the researcher selected 25 children at 4 years of age in B Kindergarten in Jeonju City as a test group and another 25 children at 4 years of age in A Kindergarten as a control group, and performed the physical activity play program. The study attuned the physical activity play program to the curricula for kindergartens, and conducted an experimental treatment three times a week, for 15 sessions from October 20 to November 21, 2008.
The study conducted the test of the children's emotional Intelligence and the test of the children's pro-sociality before and after the performance of the program.
Then, the study analyzed t-test between the groups by using the SPSS program for the pre-and post-test results.
The results were as follows:
First, the emotional Intelligence through the physical activity play program was significantly improved in the experimental group more than in the control group.
Second, pro-sociality through the physical activity play program was significantly enhanced in the experimental group more than in the control group.
Such physical activity play is continuously carried out among growing children.
Also, in peer relationships, they experienced various situations and enjoyed expressing them through physical activity play.
After the 15 sessions of physical activity play, children positively expressed the appearances of the sub-area of emotional Intelligence and pro-sociality in their daily lives.
Subsequent affirmative effects promoted the children's emotional Intelligence as well as pro-sociality, which rendered the purpose of this study significant.
