The purpose of this paper is to clarify how career counselling program enhance career maturity and self-efficacy for career for students outside school. For this purpose, following issues are assigned.
Issue 1 : Is career counselling program effective for improving career maturity in juveniles out of school?
Issue 2 : Is career counselling program effective for improving self-efficacy sense for career in juveniles out of school?
In order to solve these issues, assignment of research objects, pre-investigation, composing counselling group and comparison group, applying career counselling program, inspection after program and data analysis are carried out respectively.
For targeted group, 14 students out of school in their age of 16 to 21 who are willing to attend career counselling program from juvenile protection center, juvenile's resting place and juvenile counselling supporting center located Jeju city are assigned, and among them, experimental group of 7 juveniles and control group of 7 juveniles are randomly chosen.
Career Attitude Maturity Inventory developed by Lee Gi Hak (1997) and career self-efficacy of high school student developed by Park Myeong Sim and Kim Sung Hee (2006) are used for testing hypotheses. Sub factors for career attitude maturity consists of a total of 47 questions including decision, preparation, independence and confidence, and sub factors for career self-efficacy consists of a total of 32 questions including self-efficacy for finding career path, self-efficacy for determining career and self-efficacy for performing career. Career counselling program was corrected, supplemented and restructured with help of supervised professor based on 1st phase education program from Dudearim zone program for juveniles under risks developed by Korea Youth Counselling Center. And researcher carried out a total of 10 times, 2 times per week for each 90 minutes. SPSS WIN 10.0 is used for data analysis. In order to verify hypothesis assigned by this paper, the program is applied to counselling group, and after-inspection is performed for counselling group and comparison group, and its effectiveness is verified by t-test.
As the result, the findings of this study indicated the followings;
First, Career maturity of counselling group which attended career counselling program is meaningfully improved compared with comparison group which didn't attended career counselling program.
Second, decision and confidence among sub factors for career maturity in counselling group which attended career counselling program are meaningfully improved compared with comparison group which didn't attended career counselling program, sense of purpose, preparation and independence don't have meaningful difference. Third, career self efficacy sense in counseling group which attended career counselling program is meaningfully improved compared with comparison group which didn't attended career counselling program.
Fourth, sub factors of career self-efficacy. i.e career path finding efficacy, efficacy for determining career and efficacy for performing career in counseling group which attended career counselling program are meaningfully improved compared with comparison group which didn't attended career counselling program.
As the results of this research, career counseling program is believed to recognize juvenile's suitable career and to let them perform their careers and prepare their own career paths even apart from regular education, and have them confidences for future career, thus to help improve career maturity and sense of career self-efficacy while they understand themselves and various job world, job informations, experiences of selecting jobs and detailed employment techniques.
