The purpose of the present study was to investigate the influence of task conflict on employees' job burnout and the mediating roles of relational conflict on these relationships. In addition, this study examined the moderating roles of leader's conflict management competency in the relationship between relational conflict and job burnout. Results from 323 white color employees supported the hypotheses that (a) task conflict was positively related to relational conflict, (b) relational conflict was positively related to employees' job burnout, (c) relational conflict mediated the relationship between task conflict and employees' job burnout, and (d) leader's conflict management competency partially moderated the relationship between relational conflict and employees' job burnout. Implications of these findings, limitations and future research directions are discussed.
