매월당 김시습은 조선전기의 인물로 다양한 면모를 가진 사람이었다. 즉, 그는 수 많은 詩를 남긴 詩人이었고, 한문소설『금오신화』를 지은 한국 소설문학의 鼻祖이자, 정치적으로는 端宗과 관련한 생육신의 한사람이다.
매월당은 이런 면모 외에 67편 73수의 茶詩를 남긴 뛰어난 茶人이기도 하였다. 이에 본고에서는 그의 茶詩를 중심으로 그이 차생활과 茶道觀을 고찰하였다.
매월당의 茶詩 분석을 통한 그의 다도관의 특징을 살펴보면 다음과 같이 정리할 수 있다.
첫째, 매월당은 儒 ․ 佛 ․ 道 의 三敎會通思想을 차생활 속에 구현하였다.
둘째, 그는 직접 차나무를 기르고 製茶해서 차를 마신 실용적인 茶人이었다.
셋째, 그의 행다법과 차정신은 일본의 외교승 준장로와의 만남으로 인해 일본 草庵茶에 양향을 미친것으로 본다.
넷째, 매월당은 초의선사가 <작설차>란 茶詩에서 밝힌, 茶가 군자와 같다고 한 차의 정신을 잘 실천하였다.
다섯째, 매월당은 세조의 왕위찬탈로 인하여, 正道가 실현되지 않음을 보고 일생을 방랑과 울분속에 보내면서 오직 차로 위안을 삼았다.
여섯째, 매월당은 그이 문집에 다수의 茶詩를 남겼고, 또 『금오신화』속에 茶 관련 詩文을 서술함으로써 후인들에게 그의 차생활을 연구할 수 있도록 하였다.
이상 여섯 가지로 요약되는 매월당의 다도관은 그의 차생활을 이해할 수 있는 중요한 사안이라 할 것이다.

MaeWol-Dang Kim Si-Seub had various aspects, who led his life during the early Joseon Dynasty. That is, he was a poet leaving many poems, a frontier of Korean novel literature writing the Chinese-letter novel, 'Geumosinhwa', and politically, one of the living six retainers related to Danjong.
Besides, he was an excellent tea maniac, who left 67 pyeon 73 su's poems. This article examines his tea life and teaism around his tea poems.
The features of his teaism can be summarized as follows:
First, he realized the integrated thought of Confucianism, Buddhism and Zen into his tea life.
Second, he was a practical tea maniac, who in person grew tea trees and made teas to drink.
Third, his tea activity method and tea mind seems to have influenced Japanese Choam tea though meeting with the country's foreign-affair monk Jun, the highest priest.
Fourth, he well practiced the tea mind in Choeui Zen master's tea poem, 'Jakseol Tea', which says tea is like a man of honor.
Fifth, only with tea he could relieve himself of sorrow and anger, which had resulted from the unjustice of Sejo's stealing the throne.
Sixth, he left many tea poems in his collection of works and wrote poems related to tea in 'Geumosinhwa', which has enabled his tea life studied.
The above six aspects are important to understand his tea life.
