The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of study skills training on the self-regulated learning ability of elementary school students. In order to accomplish this purpose, two hypotheses were established as follows ;
1-1. There will be statistically significant total self-regulated learning ability test scores and sub-factor scores difference between experimental group and control group.
1-2. There will be statistically significant total self-regulated learning ability test scores and sub-factor scores difference between pretest and posttest of experimental group.
To test these hypotheses, two classes in 4th grade were selected in B elementary school in Dong-gu in Daegu. The subjects were divided into two groups ; the experimental group (N=28) and the control group(N=28). After the study skills training was carried into effect on the experimental group, the Pretest-Posttest design was applied to measure the effectiveness of this program. The tools used in this study were Gang, Seong Hee(2008)'s Study skills training Program which were amended and adjusted by researcher. The data was analyzed by t-test by using SPSS/Windows 17.0 program for computer.
The results from this study were as follows ;
First, scores from the self-regulated learning ability test of students who participated in the study skills training were higher than those of students who didn't participate in the study skills training.
Second, within the experimental group, total scores of self-regulated learning ability of the post-test appeared higher than the pre-test.
This study can be said to have its own significances in establishing by evidence the relation between study skills training and self-regulated learning ability through clearing up the effect of the study skills training on self-regulated learning ability of elementary school students, and in getting a start to make the better use of study skills training in the field.
