      This study aims to examine the effect of the director's leadership in the Children's House for empowerment of the instructors and their the job satisfaction.
      The study problems set forth to fit this aim are as follows.
      1) What is the effect of the director's leadership perceived by the instructors on their empowerment?
      2) What is the effect of the director's leadership perceived by the instructors on their job satisfaction?
      The subjects of this study were 500 teachers working at the 78 children's house located in the Special District of Jeju Island. 500 surveys were distributed on them and 450 surveys were collocted. Among the surveys collected, one survey was removed due to insincere answers, and the remaining 499 surveys were finally used in the analysis.
      As for the measurement devices, first, the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) devised by Bass (1985) was used after revising and enhancing according to the purpose of this study. Next, in order to measure the empowerment of the instructors, School Participant Empowerment Scale (SPES) devised by Short and Rinehart (1992) was used. Lastly, in order to measure the job satisfaction of the instructors, the questionnaire regarding the job satisfaction of kindergarten teachers devised by Yi Myeong-Ju (1984) was re-organized according to the tasks of the instructors at a children's house by Baek Gwang Oak and then used in the study.
      In order to verify the study problems, using the SAS statistical programs, the frequency, percentile, Cronbach's a coefficient, elementary statistics, and correlation were analyzed. Then, in order to examine the effect of the house director's leadership on the empowerment and job satisfaction of the instructors, the multiple regression analysis was conducted.
      The summary of the study resulls focusing on the study problems is as follows.
      First of all, among the house director's leadership styles recognized by the instructors, the reformative leadership(t=9.38, p<.001) had a significant impact on the empowerment, but the business leadership turned out to have very little effect. And as a result of examination investigated the effect of among the house director's leadership styles recognized by the instructors to one of the subordinate variables in empowerment, first, the house director's reformative leadership(t=7.26, p<.001) had a significant influence on the decision making, but the business leadership did not have any effect. Second, the house director's reformative leadership(t=9.03, p<.001) had a significant influence on the instruct's self-efficacy but the business leadership turned out to have little effect. Third, the house director's reformative leadership(t=9.17, p<.001) had a significant effect on the buildup of independence but the business leadership did not have any effect.
      Next, among the house director's leadership style recognized by the instructors, the reformation leadership(t=9.80, p<.001) had a significant influence on th total job satisfaction, but the business leadership turned out to have very little effect and as a result of examination investigated the effect of among the house director's leadership styles recognized by the instructors to one of the subordinate variables in job satisfaction, first, among the house director's leadership styles recognized by the instructors, the reformative leadership(t=9.00, p<.001) had a significant effect on the task it self which is one of subordinate variables in job satisfaction but the business leadership did not have any effect. Second, among the house director's leadership styles recognized by the nursing instructors, while the reformative leadership(t=4.26, p<.001) had a significant leadership on social recognition, one of the subordinate variables in job satisfaction, the business leadership did not have any effect. Third, among the house director's leadership styles rocognized by the instructors, the reformative leadership(t=14.75, p<.001) and business leadership(t=-2.06, p<.05) had a significant influence on the relationship between the director and the instructors, which is one of the subordinate variables in job satisfaction. Fourth, among the house director's leadership styles recognized by the instructors, while the reformative leadership(t=11.39, p<.001) had a significant leadership on service environment, one of the subordinate variables in job satisfaction, the business leadership did not have and effect. Fifth, armng the house director's leadership styles recognized by the nursing instructors, both the reformative leadership(t=8.17, p<.001) and business leadership(t=-2.39, p<.05) had a significant effect on the wage, which is one of the subordinate variables in job satisfaction.
