고구려 벽화를 통해 본 한민족의 삶과 사상

국문 초록 (Abstract)

고분벽화의 보존의 중요성을 인식하고 벽화의 보존․수리시 전통적인 재료의 사용과 원형의 복원방법에 관한 기초적인 데이터와 고분벽화 속에 담겨 있는 의미에 관한 연구가 미미한 상황에서 고분벽화를 보존․수리하는데 한계가 있다. 이에 미술관․박물관 경영학 분야는 벽화의 문화재 보존 측면 뿐만 아니라 미술사적 측면과 벽화의 특성에 대한 다양한 연구가 진행되어야 한다. 이에 고분벽화(古墳壁畵)에 표현된 형태와 문양 등이 나타나게 된 독자적인 문화적 배경, 신화와 역사 등을 먼저 고찰하고 벽화가 담고 있는 상징성을 찾아내 그 속에 담긴 고구려인의 삶과 사상을 인물풍경, 장식, 사신도를 중심으로 살펴보았다.
우선, 고구려 벽화 속 인물풍속도를 통해 그 당시 관상학(觀相學)과 사후세계에 대한 관념인 영혼불멸사상이 널리 퍼져 있음을 알 수 있었다.
둘째, 고구려 벽화 속 장식 무늬들은 고구려 사람들의 아름답고 고상한 정서와 높은 예술적 재능, 인간 본연의 벽사수복(擘邪壽福), 부귀장생(富貴長生), 다사다난(多事多難)등 길상적인 욕구 등을 찾아볼 수 있으며, 주술적인 종교의식 사상이 융합되어 나타나고 있다.
셋째, 고구려 벽화 속 가상의 동물은 삶에서 존재하는 우주·인간·동식물, 특정의 인간 행위, 자연 현상·사회제도 등에서 발생하는 문제와 고구려인이 욕망하는 삶을 해결하고자 신화와 결부하여 풀어가려 했으며, 천문사상(天文思想)과 자연숭배사상(自然崇拜思想)이 널리 퍼져 있었음을 알 수 있다.
이와 같이 고구려 고분벽화에 그려진 벽화들은 시기에 따라 그 내용이 다르지만 공통적으로 삶과 죽음에 있어서 죽음이 끝이 아니라 또 다른 시작이나 삶의 연속이라고 내세관을 찾아 볼 수 있었으며, 고구려인들은 샤머니즘적인 사상을 바탕으로 불교, 유교, 도교를 받아들여 자기만의 독자적인 사상을 형성하고 그것을 벽화로서 승화시켰음을 알 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There is a limitation in preserving and repairing ancient tomb wall painting at the situation that the recognition of the importance of preserving ancient tomb wall painting and the studies on the basic data on the use of traditional material in case of preserving and repairing wall painting and the method of restoring its original form and the meaning included in ancient tomb wall painting are poor. Therefore, for the field of Business Administration of Art & Museum, it is necessary to progress various studies on the art history and specificity of wall painting as well as the preservation of wall paintings as cultural properties. of wall painting. Then, at first, this study considered unique cultural background, myth and history that caused the shapes and designs expressed on ancient tomb wall paintings(古墳壁畵), found the symbols expressed in the wall painting and reviewed the life and idea of Koguryeo people included in it on the basis of person picture, ornament, four gods painting(四神圖).
First, through the person customs painting expressed in Koguryeo wall painting, it was possible to recognize that physiognomy(觀相學) and spirit immorality idea regarding after-death world were widely spread at that period.
Second, through the ornament designs in Koguryeo wall painting, it was possible to recognize their beautiful and elegant sense and higher artistic talents, and general desires including human's own mind expelling bad luck and calling good luck(擘邪壽福), wealth and honor and longevity(富貴長生) and eventfulness(多事多難), and it was also possible to realize the mixed expression of magical religious ceremony and idea.
Third, through the imaginary animals expressed in Koguryeo wall painting, it was possible to realize that Koguryeo people tried to solve their lives and desires including the universe. human being. animal and plant existing in our life, certain human being's actions and the problem occurring in natural phenomenon. social system by relating to myth, and it was also possible to realize that astronomical idea(天文思想) and nature worship idea(自然崇拜思想)
were widely spread.
As mentioned in the above, even though its contents are different according to its period, through the wall paintings in Koguryeo ancient tomb wall painting, it was possible to realize the idea on the future life after death that death isn't the end but the other beginning or life's continuance, and it was also possible to realize that Koguryeo people formed their own unique ideas and sublimated it into wall painting by receiving Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism on the basis of Shamanism idea.
