Today’s broadcasting and communication industries, with the collapse of industry boundaries, are evolving through fixed-mobile convergence and network integration while diverse platforms are being developed. With the improvement of IP infrastructure technologies based on flexible expansion, the development of multi-casting technologies overcame the limitation of large dedicated bandwidth and brought in the development of IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) technologies with possible real-time services. IPTV, a combination commodity of TV and high-speed internet, is an interactive service on which users can watch desired contents at desired times as well as use numerous services which were previously possible through broadcasting programs and computers such as shopping, games, electric commerce, internet, and search through TV media. The purpose of this research is to classify interactive factors of IPTV into user control, reaction, interactive communications, individualization, pleasure, and more while studying their interactions by analyzing the IPTV degree of user satisfaction according to personal specialties such as renovation and self-control. For this, materials were collected by surveying a total of 230 respondents targeting users in their 20s to 30s who are using IPTV services through first-hand interviews to arrange the study model and hypothesis and to verify this based on precedent documentary studies. As a result, first, interactive factors of IPTV were shown to influence user satisfaction degrees. Among interaction factors; use control, pleasure, and individualization influenced user satisfaction degrees. However, it showed that reaction and interactive communication did not influence user satisfaction degrees. This is interpreted as the result that users are satisfied with the user control, pleasure, and individualization of current services but unsatisfied with searching contents modification suited to user’s requests or real-time requested information, and it is seen that specialized information provision suited to users are necessary. With the expansion of service areas possible in IPTV, diverse content provisions and user conveniences to increase interaction for users should be raised. Second, renovation of individuals appeared to partially influence interaction and satisfaction. User controls and interactive communication influence the relationship of satisfaction while the renovation of individuals is interpreted that the satisfaction degree is relatively high in being able to compose and control media by themselves into contents easily handled and desired. Also, about renovation, its satisfaction can be said to be higher when users can easily find out content modifications and questions and answers suited to their requests. Third, the self-control of individuals appeared not to be an influence as a moderator variable. However, satisfaction rose as self-control and renovation rose. Simply, these factors were revealed as insignificant in the relationship between interaction and satisfaction.
This research sought to specifically consider the specialties of IPTV by analyzing interactive factors regarding IPTV service. Even at this point when service has fully started, studies on the interaction of IPTV were not very active. By studying the interaction which has been discussed around Internet media on IPTV, it was sought to contribute to the area expansion of IPTV’s academic interaction while practically helping IPTV from a strategic perspective. Through recognition on factors of interactions based on the interactive services of IPTV, it will be said that the issue point is placed in being utilized as raw data, more specifically, on how IPTV users understand, feel, and react about media.
