사설 영재교육기관의 지구과학 프로그램 평가 : 지질 분야를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 사설 영재교육기관에서 이루어지고 있는 지구과학 영재교육 프로그램을 평가하여 영재 프로그램 수준의 적합성과 효과성을 검토하며, 프로그램의 개선 방향 및 질적 향상을 도모하는데 그 목적이 있다.
본 연구에서는 W 사설 영재교육원의 초등학교 6학년부터 중학교 2학년 학생을 대상으로 하는 지구과학 교재 중 지질학과 관련된 내용만을 분석 대상으로 삼았으며, 프로그램 평가틀을 고안하여, 프로그램의 질적 향상 및 개선을 위한 보완점을 제안하였다.

본 연구의 평가 결과는 다음과 같다.

첫째, W 사설 영재교육원 프로그램은 주로 중학교 과정부터 대학교 과정을 미리 배우는 속진 학습 위주의 프로그램 위에 심화 과정이 일부 포함된 내용 중심이었다.
둘째, 발산적 사고 과정을 일으키는 질문이 많은 비중을 차지하고 있으나 유창성과 융통성에 편중되어 있으며, 창의성과 관련된 비관습적 사고 질문은 극히 적었다.
셋째, 학습 목표가 제시되어 있지 않았으며, 이 때문에 평가 문항과의 일치도를 확인할 수 없었다.
넷째, 탐구과정 요소를 배양할 만한 활동들이 많지 않고, 학생 산출물을 만들 기회가 제공되어 있지 않으며, 평가 방법이 다양하지 않은 것으로 평가 되었다.

사설 영재교육원 프로그램을 수정․보완함에 있어 우선적으로 고려해야 할 점은 영재 학생들의 특성에 맞게 구성되어야 하며, 창의성을 길러주는 탐구활동이 주가 되어야 할 것이다. 그리고 학생의 인성적인 면을 길러줄 수 있는 내용이 첨가되어 차별화가 이루어진다면, 국가 주도의 영재교육기관에서 이루어지는 프로그램과 어깨를 나란히 할 수 있는 기관으로 발전하여 영재교육에 큰 축을 담당할 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research thesis aims at evaluating programs for the gifted in the field of earth science, which has been conducted in the private educational institute for the gifted, and analyzing the legitimacy and effectiveness of the program level for the gifted, and furthermore, improving the program and quality of the program.
To do it, this thesis conducted an analytic survey of curricular contents related to geology of curricular materials of 'Earth Science' that the sixth graders in elementary school, and the seventh and eighth graders in middle school were learning in 'W Private Educational Institute For The Gifted'. And then, it devised the frameworks of the program evaluation in order to make the proposal on reinforcing and improving the program and the quality of the program.

The evaluation results of this research are as follows:
First, most programs which are conducted in 'W Private Educational Institute For the Gifted' were focused on what's called 'Preview and Quick learning-intensive learning process, which has covered college educational levels mainly from the secondary school levels.
Second, the creative idea process-generating questions accounted for significant ratio. But, the areas of 'fluency' and 'flexibility' have been extremely concentrated. And, few questions have been raised concerning non-conventional thoughts.
Third, the learning goals were not set. Because of the absence of such goals, the evaluation questions can't be consistent with the learning goals.
Lastly, there were hardly activities to foster factors in relation to exploratory process. Few opportunities for students to create their own creative works were found. And, the evaluation methods were found to be limited.
The foremost task in amending and improving the programs in the private educational institute for the gifted is to establish the building in consideration of traits that each student has, and to introduce exploration-focused activities to help develop his or her own creativity.
And, if the institute makes the stark distinctions in adding educational contents, which can gear up the 'humanistic' nature' to students, this institute will certainly grow as the agency to keep up with the programs in any educational institutes for the gifted, under the leadership of the government, playing a great pivotal role in the education for the gifted.
