The casino industry particularly depends on human resources and human services. In the case of the casino industry, where there is much direct contact with customers, the results of business tend to be affected by human resources.
Conflicts among inter-departments might be unavoidable since each has different concepts in performing their own tasks.
Besides, it is also considered that the more each business part is specialized, the more conflicts occur. such conflicts cause negative effects on the systematic outcome.
This paper mainly focuses on effects of employee's conflict perception on the service quality and management performance through understanding types and causes of conflicts occurring among departments.
From this analysis, it would be expected to efficiently manage conflicts among inter-departments, to improve the service quality and to maximize the business outcome. Further, the way to develop the casino industry as the leading business among the service industry would be suggested.
In order to achieve the aim of this paper, three methods of researches are performed; literature researches, preceding researches, and positive researches.
By means of literature researches and preceding researches, a model and a theory of study are set. Then, the model and the theory are demonstrated through positive researches.
Regarding the method of positive researches, in detail, 500 employees in Kangwonland had participated in the poll for study for one month, the October of 2008.
The information from the survey is examined by five analytic methods; frequency analysis to understand employee's general characteristics, correlation analysis to examine the connection among the degree of disputes, the service quality and management performance, regression analysis to look over effects of conflicts on the service quality and intermediary effects of the service quality, factor analysis for the propriety, and, finally, statistical analysis based on SPSS ver.15.0 as a tool of a hypothesis testing. From those analyses, below concerns could be concluded.
First, conflict perception in inter-departments affects the service quality in some parts. The more the respondence to interdependencies between inter-department's works is increased, the more the quality of procedural and responsive service is improved. This could mean that the brisk connection between inter-department leads to fast service and effective communication with customers. Moreover, the higher the level of conflict perception, the higher the quality of procedural, responsive, and human service. This could express that competition between inter-department works as a positive matter. In addition, the close relationship between the senior and the junior generally provides customers with the high service quality.
Second, the higher the level of procedural and human service, the higher the ability in the non-financial performance.
It could be understood that the effective business system that timely provides required service and lively communication with customers increases the level of customer both satisfaction and brand awareness.
Third, conflict perception in inter-departments has effects on the management performance in some parts. The higher the level of conflicts over social environment, the lower the financial and non-financial performance.
It could explain that when the relationship between employees is improved, both the internal and external management performance tend to be extended. However, it could be also told that the higher the level of conflict perception, the more the non-financial performance is enlarged, and the higher the level of obstacles to communication, the more the financial performance rises.
Fourth, with respect to the relation between conflict perception and the management performance, if the service quality(procedural, responsive, and human service) is improved, the non-financial performance is extended, although conflict perception in inter-departments(obstacles to communication, and the conflicts over the social environment and the interdependence) is high. In other words, the service quality functions as a parameter to the non-financial performance. On the ground of this fact, it could be found that the positive strategy of service affirmatively affects company's image and customer's satisfaction.
