The objective of this study is to determine how a growth program based on MMTIC influences middle school girls' psychological well-being and ego-resilience. Most Korean junior-high school students get pressure mentally or physically during the period of adolescence including academical pressure. In this sense, it's necessary for them to improve psychological well-being and ego-resilience. Hopefully, that might lead to be aware of self and increase self-esteem which could help them be positive in any hard working situation.
The followings are concrete hypotheses for this study and process for the measure.
Hypothesis: The psychological well-being and ego-resilience of the group participating in the growth program based on MMTIC(an experimental group) might be higher than that of another group that did not participate(a control group). To accept this hypothesis, I tried to measure the gap between experimental and control group. The subject of this study was 90 girls of Y middle school located in Pusan for pre-examination and then just one class was randomly chosen for the experimental and control group respectively. The growth program based on MMTIC was applied to the experimental group 16 times (45 minutes per each time), but the control group received nothing. A post-examination of psychological well-being and ego-resilience is taken for two groups and the results are as following.
First, the total average of psychological well-being shows 180.97 for the experimental group and 169.73 for the control group. This data shows that the psychological well-being of experimental group has been improved by 15.84 increase. As a subordinate factor of friend-relationship hypothesis was accepted by showing a marked difference of p<0.5. However, there were no marked differences in subordinate factors like, an affirmative self-recognition, a family relationship, a teacher-student relationship, a self-assertion, a learner-centered learning.
Secondly, the total average of ego-resilience shows 173.00 for the experimental group and 149.80 for the control group. Therefore, this hypothesis was also accepted by showing a marked difference of p <0.5. There was a slightly marked difference of p<0.001 in subordinate factors of cognitive area(self-efficacy, problem-solving skills), affective area(emotion, an impetus control, sympathy and acceptance), will-power area(optimism, meaning-pursuit). A marked difference of p<0.1 and p<0.5 were presented in a family area (caring, expectation, meaningful interaction) and a peer area (caring, expectation, meaningful interaction) respectively. On the other hand, there's no marked difference in religion, school, local society areas.
In conclusion, a growth program based on MMTIC influences on middle school girls' psychological well-being and makes a huge effect on their ego-resilience. Therefore, we should be well aware of the effect of a growth program based on MMTIC and implement it more.
