The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships of attachment and separation-individuation to interpersonal problems in undergraduate students. 346 college students answered the questionnaire consisting of Experiences in Close Relationship Scale, Separation-Individuation Scale, and Interpersonal Problem Scale. Interpersonal Problem is classified as three categories - move toward people, move against people, and move away from people - by Karen Horney's theory.
As a result of analysis, Interpersonal Problem were related to Attachment and Separation-Individuation, and Separation-Individuation is better then Attachment. Individuation-pseudo independent, anxiety attachment, and avoid attachment related to move against people of Interpersonal Problem subcategory. Individuation-pseudo independent, avoid attachment, and symbiosis-primarity anxiety related to move away from people. Symbiosis-primarity anxiety, anxiety attachment, and individuation-pseudo independent related to move toward people. Finally, implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
