The purpose of the study is to find out the university students' adaptation to their university lives. The subjects are students who are enrolled in the university. The subjects are divided into two groups according to the university entrance type and screening method: general students group and transfer students group. In the case of the screening method, students are classified into the special screening and general screening. Transfer students are divided into the general transfer and the Bachelor's transfer. The difference of the educational satisfaction was analyzed by the group. And this study intended to find out the difference of the influential factors which affect the academic achievement.
The research questions are proposed as follows:
First, is there any difference of educational satisfaction according to the entrance type?
Second, is there any difference of educational satisfaction according to the screening method?
Third, is there any difference of educational satisfaction according to transfer type?
Fourth, does the educational satisfaction factor which has an influence on the academic achievement of the student have the difference according to the entrance type?
Finally, does the educational satisfaction factor which has an influence on the academic achievement of the student have the difference according to the screening method?
On the basis of reviewed theories, the following hypotheses were formulated.
Hypothesis 1: There would be some difference of educational satisfaction according to the entrance type
Hypothesis 2: There would be difference of educational satisfaction according to the screening method
Hypothesis 3: There would be difference of educational satisfaction according to transfer type?
Hypothesis 4: The educational satisfaction factor which has an influence on the academic achievement of the student would be different according to the entrance type.
Hypothesis 5: The educational satisfaction factor which has an influence on the academic achievement of the student would be different according to the screening method.
The subjects are 751 students of C National University in Jeonbuk Province. They are 587 general students, 164 transfer students. The educational satisfaction data were collected by the questionnaire which was made by the researcher. To analyze the difference of educational satisfaction, factor analysis, reliability analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA, Scheffe' test, multiple linear regression analysis of SPSS 12.0 KO Window Version were conducted.
The results of analyses are as follows:
First, in case of the entrance type, educational satisfaction of transfer students is higher than that of general student
Second, in case of the transfer type, educational satisfaction of general transfer students is higher than that of transfer students.
Third, in case of the screening method, educational satisfaction of general students is higher than that of the Bachelor's transfer students.
Fourth, The educational satisfaction factor which has an influence on the academic achievement of the student has the difference according to the entrance type. For general students, grade assessment, the university graduate operation, the administration service, and improvement of intellectual level affect academic achievement. For the transfer students, the relationship between them and professor, grade assessment, and the university graduate operation affect academic achievement.
Finally, The educational satisfaction factor which has an influence on the academic achievement of the student has the difference according to the screening method. In case of general students, grade assessment, the curriculum, the administration service, and improvement of intellectual level affect academic achievement. In case of specially admitted students, grade assessment, and scholarship affect academic achievement. For general transfer students, however, the relationship between them and professor, and grade assessment affect academic achievement. For the Bachelor's transfer students, teaching material, and improvement of intellectual level affect academic achievement.
