While the methods of evaluating and measuring the risk of corporate bankruptcy have been developing, the need of more sophisticated predictional models for coporate bankruptcy becomes greater than ever.
The existing methods for forecasting company's default are classified into two: the one is discriminant analysis using financial statement data and the other is KMV model using stock market data. Although there are many trials to combine two methods, we have not found any meaningful results yet.
This paper presents a forecasting model for corporate bankruptcy using both financial statement data and stock market data. So, we try to combine survival analysis and KMV model through Monte- Carlo simulation.
In conclusion, we can get better results when we apply survival data that were forecasted to a logistic regression model than the existing models. This paper proves that it is more useful to use both financial statement data and stock market data when forecasting corporate bankruptcy.
