초등학생 인성교육 활성화를 위한 봉사 활동 학습 적용에 관한 연구

This thesis has the purpose of studying Ethics education methodology for improvement humanity education at elementary school in Ethics class. Responding to the formed sympathy of the necessity of humanity education, in the seventh Ethics curriculum, humanity education was emphasized as one of important issues. It is intended to raise up integrated human who has developed all aspects of right temper and cognitive, definitive, and behavioral aspects of morality in harmony through humanity education. Also, in the seventh Ethics education curriculum, in more specified ways the moral practice through experience education was emphasized. In response to this trend, first it is to establish the concept of character for the improvement of humanity education in this study. This is started from the belief that the concept of humanity education which is abstract and comprehensive without any agreement on it at the moment should be established first then humanity education will be performed well. Emphasizing the establishment of the concept, character and the necessity of humanity education, the component factors for elementary school students' character cultivation were represented. In this thesis, love, respect, care, and service were adopted as the component factors for character cultivation. That is, it means to raise students who have desirable character by practicing services based on the minds of love, respect, and care. In addition, reflective care ethic which supplements care ethic by Noddings and reflective thoughts in experience learning theory was suggested as a philosophic ground of humanity education. Reflective care ethic promotes us to practice caring behaviors continuously in the relation of credibility and intimacy through reflecting on structured practice experiences. Also, 'practice' and 'reflection' were stressed more strongly. Humanity education should be accomplished systematically through continuous and systematical practices in human relationship. In this side, the caring relation between reliability and intimacy and the reflective care Ethics emphasizing 'practice' and 'reflection' are expected to arrange desirable grounds for humanity education. Also, since reflective care Ethic includes integrated cognitive, definitive, and behavioral areas, it will provide proper grounds to service learning which especially emphasizes the habit of reflection and introspection. Next, for humanity education activation, the contents of humanity education currently executed in elementary schools mainly were examined and through the issues of humanity education currently executed in elementary schools, the concrete ways to advance in for humanity education improvement were explored.
The reality of our education is flowing toward competitive direction which is focused on preparing for entrance exams and better scores even at elementary schools which requires more variety of experiences and practices for desirable character cultivation. Based on these issues, in this study service learning were suggested as an education method for humanity education improvement for elementary school students. Service learning is an activity to bring meaningful changes to local areas, schools, and human and providing students with positive changes and developments by linking leaning with service learning experienced in actual situations of local societies. Also, service learning has a big difference in the existence of the chance to meditate and reflect in the course of carrying it out from service. The importance of service learning is more and more highlighted in modern society. It is because students can be raised up as desirable human who the humanity education pursues by developing all cognitive, behavioral, and definitive areas through service learning.
Especially, it is expected to be more effective and useful to elementary school students who have immature morality by providing the educational chance through experiences. Therefore, in this thesis, it is suggested that service learning should be applied actively to Ethics education which should perform the core role of humanity education, at the same time, home, school, and community should practice humanity education cooperatively.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 도덕과수업에서 초등학교 인성교육 활성화를 위한 도덕 교육 방법론에 관한 연구를 목적으로 한다. 인성교육의 필요성에 대한 공감대 형성에 맞춰 제 7차 도덕과 교육과정에서는 중요 쟁점 중 하나로 학생들의 인성교육 강화를 강조하였다. 인성교육을 통해 올바른 성품을 지니고, 도덕성의 인지적, 정의적, 행동적 측면이 조화롭게 발달한 통합적인 인간을 양성하자는 것이다.
또한, 제7차 개정 교육과정에서는 한층 구체화된 방법으로 다양한 체험학습을 통한 도덕적 실천을 강조하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 인성교육의 활성화를 위해 우선 인성에 대한 개념을 올바로 정립하고자 하였다. 현재 거의 합의가 이루어지지 못한 채 다양하게 사용되고 있는 추상적이고 포괄적인 인성의 개념을 정립해야 인성교육이 제대로 이루어진다는 신념에서 시작되었다.
인성에 대한 개념 정립과 인성교육의 필요성을 역설하면서 초등학생들의 인성함양을 위한 구성요소를 제시하였다. 본 연구에서는 인성함양을 위한 구성요소를 사랑, 존중, 배려, 봉사라고 제시하였다. 즉 사랑, 존중, 배려의 마음을 바탕으로 봉사를 실천함으로써 바람직한 인성을 가진 학생들을 육성하자는 의미이다. 더불어 인성교육의 철학적 근거로 나딩스의 배려 윤리와 경험주의 학습이론의 반성적 사고를 보완한 반성적 배려 윤리를 제시하였다. 반성적 배려 윤리는 나딩스의 신뢰감과 친밀감의 배려 관계 속에서 구조화된 실천경험에 대한 반성을 통해 배려적인 행동을 지속적으로 실천할 수 있도록 촉진시켜 준다. 또한'실천'과'반성'을 보다 강력하게 강조한다. 인성교육은 신뢰감과 친밀감의 인간관계 속에서 계획적이고 지속적인 실천을 통해 체계적으로 이루어져야 하는데 이러한 면에서 신뢰감과 친밀감의 배려 관계와'실천'과'반성'을 강조하는 반성적 배려윤리는 인성교육에 바람직한 철학적 근거를 마련한다고 기대할 수 있다. 또한 반성적 배려 윤리는 인지적, 정의적, 행동적 영역을 통합적으로 포함하고 있어 반성과 성찰의 습관 과정을 특히 강조하는 봉사 활동 학습에도 적절한 이론적 근거를 제시해 줄 수 있을 것이다.
다음으로 인성교육의 활성화를 위해서 초등학교를 중심으로 현재 실시하고 있는 인성교육에 대한 내용을 알아보았고, 현재 실시하는 초등학교 인성교육의 문제점을 통해 도덕과에서 인성교육의 활성화를 위해 나아가야 할 구체적인 방법을 탐색하였다. 우리의 교육 현실은 바람직한 인성 함양을 위해 다양한 체험과 경험을 필요로 하는 초등학교조차도 입시위주, 성적지상의 경쟁적인 방향으로 흘러가고 있다. 이러한 문제점에 기초하여 본 연구에서는 초등학생의 인성교육 활성화를 위한 도덕 교육 방법으로 봉사 활동 학습을 주장하였다. 봉사 활동 학습은 지역 사회의 실제적 상황들 속에서 체험을 통한 봉사 활동을 학습과 연계시킴으로써, 학생들에게 긍정적인 변화와 발전을 주고, 인간과 학교, 지역사회에 의미 있는 변화를 가져오는 활동이라고 할 수 있다. 또한 봉사 활동 학습은 학습과정 속에서 끊임없이 숙고와 성찰의 기회를 갖는다는 점에서도 단순한 봉사 활동과 큰 차이가 있다. 봉사 활동 학습에 대한 중요성은 현대 사회에 더욱 부각되고 있는 상황이다. 왜냐하면 봉사 활동 학습을 통해 학생들은 인지적 영역, 행동적 영역, 정의적 영역을 통합적으로 발달시켜 인성교육이 추구하는 통합적 도덕성을 지닌 바람직한 인간으로 성장할 수 있기 때문이다. 특히, 도덕성이 미성숙한 초등학생에게 체험을 통한 통합적인 교육의 기회를 제공함으로써 더욱 효과적이고 유용할 것으로 기대된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 인성교육의 중심 역할을 수행해야 할 도덕과 교육에서 봉사 활동 학습을 적극적으로 활용해야하며 더불어 가정, 학교, 사회공동체가 상호협력적인 관계 속에서 인성교육이 추진해 나가야 한다고 역설하는 바이다.
