The purpose of this study was to analyze the mediating effects of juveniles' peer attachment and self-respect on the relationship between their parental attachment and depression & social anxiety. For this purpose, the researcher sampled 527 middle and high school students in Gyeonggi-do to measure their parental attachment, peer attachment, self-respect, depression and social anxiety. As a result, the models were not significantly different between middle and high school groups, and their peer attachment was found to have significant mediating effects on the influence of their parental attachment over their depression and social anxiety. In addition, their self-respect was found to have significant mediating effects on the relationship between their material attachment and social anxiety, while having a partial mediating effect on the relationship between peer attachment and social anxiety. On the other hand, as a result of analyzing the mediating effects of peer attachment and self-respect, it was found that the mediating effects of self-respect was more conspicuous. The above findings suggest that it is required of the counselors and psychological therapists to examine and improve juveniles' peer attachment and self-respect in order to strengthen their immunity from depression and social anxiety. In addition, since it was found that self-respect had the greatest effects on depression and social anxiety, self-respect seemed to be very important for our juveniles' mental health. Based on such results, the researcher discussed the limits of the study and suggested the directions for the follow-up studies.
