As there exists emphasis on experience-activities or experience-based learning for students, which inspires community spirit, the 7th National Curriculm encourages training or practice for young boys and girs on the dimension of desirable education for the whole man, breaking from knowledge-oriented teaching practics.
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of middle students participation in adventure-sport on their leadership skill. In order to attain this goal, the subjects of this study, among participants in training activities, at three middle schools in Seoul as of 2008.
For processing data, reliability test for variables set up in this study, averages and standard deviations by each variable and two-way ANOVA were calculated and conducted, resulting in the following conclusions.
It was ascertained that there occur differences in leadership skills according to variables such as sex, roles in classes, peer-groups and leader training experiences through adventure-sports practice, and those variables are decisive for the leadership skill.
Accordingly, not only one should provide juveniles who rarely have the change of playing a role as leader in daily lives, with the opportunity of positively participating in adventure-sports training activities with which they can develop leadership skills, but also through this activities, one is required to naturally improve juveniles ability and skills regarding leadership, and also help them to grow up more stably and effectively, through the positive aspects of leadership, not to mention psychological and physical health, the positive effect on the development of sociality, interpersonal relationships, and problem-solving withen communities.
