스트로베일 하우스의 친환경 특성 = Environment-friendly Characteristics of Strawbale House

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to research architectural material and environmental characteristics of strawbale house constructing recently introduced to the interior that present its friendly-environmental characteristics. I searched for the friendly-environmental characteristics of strawbale house and things to consider when I designed an architecture plan though the survey and study as follows. I could come to a conclusion as follows therefore

First, the material characteristics of strawbale house is low in price and friendly-environmental. A bale has a beneficially continual capacity because it is easy to get from the surroundings and has a good recurrence to nature. And it is producted from nature every year. Also, mud used to plastering has very friendly-environmental and it is easy to get from the surroundings, low in price and has a good recurrence same as bales.

Second, the environmental characteristics of strawbale house is a good insulating efficeincy. It has two environmental benefits both the decrease of a cooling and heating burden and saving energy. It has an excellent humidity control capacity, an air cleaning capacity and producting the ultrared ray by using mud plastering.

Third, the space constitutional characteristics of strawbale house is to have a deep doorframe and a window frame by the thick wall. And it is able to design a plan for curved line using variability of bales. In the other side, there is the decrease of the inside area.

Fourth, the structural characteristics of strawbale house is to have a load-baring and a post & beam structure. A load-baring structure is the method to constitute a wall building bales like blocks, and a post & beam structure is the method to constitute a wall finishing bales to general wood structure, steel-frame structure, lightweight steel-frame structure and so on.

Fifth, strawbale is friendly-environmental architectural material, but it has some defects in the strength and thermal storage of a wall, accuracy of construction. And it is a problem that bugs breed from a wall. It's been three years since the construction method of strawbale house introduced to interior, so lack of professional constructors. And it is needed the constructural technique professionalized better because circumstances are different from interior and overseas.

It's been a short period since strawbale house constructed at home. So it has a limit to objectivity of data because it's lack of theses, books and interior cases. Forward, it is needed the study about the production and management of architectural material strawbale, the survey about the chemical and physical characteristics of interior bales different from overseas and the research about the influence agricultural chemical remaining amount upon residence environment.
